This may be the procedure similar to one offered to me a couple of years ago called cutting balloon angioplasty. There were conflicting opinions as to whether or not the stenotic lesions were to the point of needing it yet. In the coronary arteries it is useful in areas where stints are not practical ....such as what are called ostial lesions. These are places where the coronary arteries are narrowing very close to the junction of another artery. Kinda like intersections :) .

Some of the new technology is truly amazing.
