new valver - 4 days old

Received the following from my cousin. These twins are her great grandchildren and one of them is in trouble. Please pray for Madeline and when I hear more, will update you all. Thanks and God bless


Our twin girls were born Wed. night...Madeline (6 lbs. 4 oz.) and Elizabeth
(5 lbs. 2 oz) Elizabeth is doing great but Madeline had heart problems and
had to be sent to a specialist in Augusta. They discovered one valve was
closed so they (as David said) "punched a hole in it" to let the blood
through. She responded well and the dr. wanted to give her a few days to gain
strength and he will do by-pass surgery Monday...she will be 5 days old!!
The dr. said if he had not opened the valve a little, she would not have made
it....pray for us.

What an painful ordeal for your family...it seems so unfair for children to have to endure a problem like this.

I'll be thinking of Madeline...hopefully the upcoming surgery will set things back on the right track. Children can be remarkably resilient!

I'm so sorry to hear what has happened to such a wee one. I pray all will be a succes on her upcoming bypass surgery. Tell your cousin I will have little Madeline in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm sorry that your cousin has this heart defect! Babies are very resilient, though. I'll keep her in my thoughts. I always get sad when I hear about kids with major illnesses. It just doesn't seem fair. She'll be ok though.

i'm so sorry your cousin and family have to go through this difficult time. i had a friend whose daughter was born with a hole in her heart and all the major arteries and veins reversed. they had to do surgery on her when she was 3 months old. she is now 13 and doing fine.
our thoughts and prayers are with madeline (and her sister)_ by the way, what big twins!

Update on Madeline - she is being taken off the ventilator perhaps today and should be coming home soon. She's a tough little girl. Thanks so much for your prayers. God bless

That's wonderful news Hensylee. The family must be so relieved. I can't imagine the anguish it must have caused for them. But how wonderful it is that the problems were fixable.

The following is today's news on Baby Madeline. Bet there will be banners and balloons everywhere when she gets home.

"Madeline is doing good. She was put in a private room last week and when she goes 5 days with regular feeding she can come home (she has been fed through tubes). Monday will be 5 days and so far she is doing good so we are all hopeful next week will be the time. Caroline says we are going to have a
welcome party !! I'm looking forward to it."
