Help The Never Ending Saga

My husband still has some fluid around his heart. He is being transfered to the hospital where his surgeon works. The surgeon will do a pericardium window to drain the remaining fluid. More details to follow. Has anyone had this proceedure? Once this proceedure is done, he will remain in the hospital until his coumadin levels stabalize

Hi Amy,

Had the same concern myself 3 weeks post op. Everything ultimately turned out ok... as I am sure it will with your husband. They do not open you back up fully. Should be able to go in under the rib cage.

Did his Coumadin cause this? That was the case with me. Happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
