Does anyone experience a "bounding pulse?"

While my pulse is fairly normal, I experience a "pounding sensation" or throbing in my head, neck and chest which is most noticable when I'm at rest. Doctor mentioned this phenomenon during a recent exam. He said it was it was most likely related to my dual prosthetic valves that function with a mechanical "thrusting" open and close vs. a more fluid motion of normal valves.

Bounding Pulse

Yep, I have a bounding/pounding pulse. It is worse at night when I'm laying quietly in bed. My aortic was replaced in April, '99 with a St. Jude Silzone treated mechanical valve. The pulse is also much faster than before: 90 t0 105 bpm at rest. My cardiologist commented on it last Tuesday when I had my tread mill test. He had no explanation!!
