Hard to believe I’m coming up on my surgery anniversary. I’m constantly thankful to this community for gently but firmly steering me away from TAVR surgery and toward OHS. Yesterday I passed 3,000 miles ridden on my road bike since I was released to ride at the end of February and at 71 I’m pleased I was able to continue doing what I love. So many of the forum members reiterate that an active lifestyle is possible post-surgery whether with a mechanical or bioprosthetic valve which is why I wanted to post about my mileage. I dare say we all felt vulnerable and fragile immediately after surgery but diligently following breathing and exercise guidelines and working hard during cardiac rehab can hasten getting back to the activities that are important to us…..
