I just called the 800 number listed in the Abbot press release. The gentleman I talked with said " the valve is designed to last 10-15 years.......that's typical for a tissue valve. I suggested they inform the younger patients to expect several surgeries as the patient ages. They hung up on me.

PS: Abbot owns the St. Jude valve. This is just a new model of the St. Jude tissue valve.

I would suggest the Drs. & Physicians to stop trying to convince 20, 30, 40, & 50 year old's to stop implanting tissue valves.
