    Working out?

Okay gym rats.... How soon after this surgery can you attempt to lift light weights and do gym type things? I'm guessing at least 6 weeks for lifting (duh, they tell you not to lift) but I know you can go do cardio like walking immediately. I want to get back to the gym (I took a 5 year...

10/17 came and went... Yay done!

It's been 11 days and I meant to update sooner. Had AVR with a St Jude 25mm at St Lukes in Houston. Surgery went as well as planned. Doctor said there really wasn't much scar tissue from the surgery at age 10 so he did get a good seat on the valve. It's tick tick ticking away in there. I could...

10/17 AVR, yippee. Wonder if I'll move this one or not LOL.

Okay, I've moved this date about 4 times in 3 years. Guess it's time to do the deed. Never a good time I guess so let's just shoot for 2 weeks prior to Halloween.... Going in for a Cath on the 10th, ordered by a second Cardio that I haven't see in 3 years (see my normal Cardio every 6 months)...

Okay, so I backed it off... Late Sept now.

Just in case the calendar showed me due up.... I'm still "on deck." I had a lot going on and the doc said I could wait another couple of months. Just normal 6 month check up and echo again. Still feeling the same. I don't notice any changes but I will be in line here at the end of summer...

Allergies or Sinus. What do you take?

I have been having some ROUGH sinus congestion, to the point that my nasal passages are SHUT. If I move around (and get my blood going) it seems to help. But, at night or in the car driving it's almost impossible to breathe through my nose. I know were not supposed to take decongestants (raises...

    It's on!! April 18th.

After 24 years of knowing it was going to happen, it's going down. Surgeon says no need for cath, says he can use the echo results (which I have about 14 of them in the records pack). Seems strange that everyone else seems to have had a cath. Surgeon is down with St Jude over OnX. Not sure why...

    Back to work???

Hi All!! Concensus from what I've read here is that there is no consensus on how long after aortic valve replacement you can get back to work. I've got a blossoming home building business and of course I need to have AVR here soon. I really need to be back in about 3 weeks (at least office...

Time to get it over with....

I've been back and forth to this site for years now. Basically I've been sitting in the waiting room for maybe 5-6 years. Doc and I finally say it's time to go here in spring. I've known it was going to happen since age 10 when they said I'd eventually need valve work. They thought age 25...
