    girl stuff

I'm going to try to get a referral from my gp to see a ACHD doc here in Houston. So not happy with the current one. Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes I just feel like I can't get anyone to listen. Tass

    girl stuff

I asked about this, but she said I didn't have the history to indicate this would be helpful (I guess for insurance purposes). Believe me, I asked about all of it. Doc did approve the Depo inj. since my recent bloodwork said my kidney numbers were back up to acceptable levels. Yay.

    girl stuff

Spayed! <VBG> I'll have to do some more looking. It would be nice to find a GP or Internist who seemed to have a handle on all the issues. Might be asking too much, however. I'm thinking I need to find a CHD doc since the current cardio. doesn't seem to have a problem with my SOB/swelling...

    girl stuff

I've been off birth control for about 2 years now...found out I had been on the Depo injection longer than recommended (too long may lead to bone loss...). No big deal, wasn't seeing anyone anyway. After a year, finally started to get a regular period again-and hating it again. Went to...

Allergies or Sinus. What do you take?

don't you just love Houston in the Spring? don't you just love Houston in the Spring? <knocking on wood at the moment> lately my allergies haven't been quite so bad. Think it may be related to my job change 3 years ago from an outdoor-parks dept. to an indoor office job. I went through every...

    CHRONIC kIDNEY FAILURE

Char, I've been dealing with a diagnosis of CKD (evidently the function had been declining prior to my BAV diagnosis)-stage 3 for me. For the past 2 months, I've now had to deal with falling Potassium. Despite the rx supplements, still falling. So now I have to see an endocrinologist to see...

    ACE inhibitor question

Larry, Did the diet change alter your kidney numbers at all? I'll be interested to see if the drugs and diet change have improved my numbers at all. The Cozaar, according the pharmacist, offers the same renal protection benefit, but without the ACE-cough. Fingers are crossed! My blood...

    ACE inhibitor question

I was ok when it was just a cough, but it progressed to dry heaves and I got to the point where I couldn't even swallow a pill without with gagging. I'm hoping the Cozaar relieves this. I've been on a protein restricted diet for 20 days now, and sooo not happy with it. Never been a label...

    ACE inhibitor question

Hello all. I've been dealing with the ACE inhibitor cough while on Lisinopril for several weeks now and it's getting worse. Doctor has suggested trying an ARB (?) Cozaar instead. Has anyone tried this one? I've read online that it, also can have a dry cough as a side effect. I'm hoping to...

    Lisinopril side effect question

Thanks for the replies. I think my issues stemmed mainly from a nasty bout of reflux. (I had soft pretzles for breakfast every day that week, and I forgot they don't agree with me.) Doc was concerned about the cough. Want's to watch it (trying to decide if it's allergy/drainage related or...

    Lisinopril side effect question

Thanks for the info. I've not suffered through any colds, etc. for so long this took me by surprise. May just be a coincidence.

    Lisinopril side effect question

Was prescribed Lisinopril, 5 mg 1xday, to preserve renal function. Never had issues with HBP, etc. After about 10 days on it, I've felt lousy-scratchy throat, mouth hurts like I might have ulcers, low grade fever, just really blah. Does this go away? Flu-like symptoms are on the list of side...

    kidney issues

Follow-up on bloodwork Follow-up on bloodwork The bloodwork indicates Stage 3 (out of 5) Chronic Kidney Disease. The PCP who did the bloodwork is changing my meds to include Lisinopril (supposed to preserve renal function) and taking away the combo diuretic Dyazide and switching to...

    kidney issues

Cardio doc thinks the fluid retention is just circulation issues (although she never really had an answer for the abdominal bloating). The Creatinine is 1.37 (was 1.1 a year ago), BUN is 18 (12 last year), eGFR is 42 (56 last year), Potassium 3.0 (3.8 last year), Chloride 93 (101 last year)...

    kidney issues

Thanks Greg. Currently I'm on Dyazide. I'm hoping this is related to fluid intake. Went to the kidney foundation website and other than the diuretic use I don't seem to have any other risk factors. Is there a certain diet change I can make to improve the numbers?

    kidney issues

Just received the results from my bloodwork last week. According to the numbers my kidneys aren't happy. Doctor comments to recheck in a month, possibly due to dehydration (hard to believe since I had been chugging down water all morning due to the fasting requirement). I checked bloodwork...
