Alternatives to Carveredilol...this stuff is kicking my butt!

It's been about two weeks since reducing the Coreg to 12.5 milligrams and I no longer feel faint or light headed (thank God!)...The fatigue is lessened by at least 50% as well... I need to see my cardiologist soon but things are settled down a bit.. I know he eventually might want me to build...

I would appreciate if somebody could explain my echo results to me in laymans term

Well from the 'support' side...that echo looks as good as you could hope for..

    Post-mitral valve repair echo

I would not be concerned with trace leakage anyway..in fact, I expected it...Certainly ask your doctor.. I had an echo about 7 months post repair...

Alternatives to Carveredilol...this stuff is kicking my butt!

Thanks Laurie, That's good information and again, I appreciate it. I just spoke to the nurse again, she called me to say the doctor wants to see me in a week or two...I confirmed I am going back to 12.5mg 2x a day...and if I still feel light headed too much, I am going to cut that dose in half...

Alternatives to Carveredilol...this stuff is kicking my butt!

Still feeling lightheaded on this med and it's getting worse...Got a return call from my cardiologist's nurse, who I much prefer speaking to than him as she's more patient. She told me the doctor wanted me to try reducing the Coreg back to 12.5 mg 2x a day...She said it would probably take 3...

Alternatives to Carveredilol...this stuff is kicking my butt!

So you feel you have adjusted? How long did it take? I got a return email from a friend who is a cardiologist..He's familiar with my situation and he said he really is a fan of Coreg for to help increase EF...and to talk to my own doctor..I do remember my cardiologist saying there are...

Alternatives to Carveredilol...this stuff is kicking my butt!

I put in a call and left a detailed message that I really hope I can switch medications. It's so hard to know what the right thing to do sometimes is! Like is it my 'imagination'...am i depressed, out of shape or is it the medication and $%#$ it's the medication...It feels like I am taking a...

Alternatives to Carveredilol...this stuff is kicking my butt!

I was on Metropolol to normalize timing between beats (this is a very rough explaination and might even be wrong but it's what I remember..) The Diovan and the Carvedolol is supposed to slow down heart rate, reduce bp and allow for my heart to get stronger combined with exercise... I tolerate...

Alternatives to Carveredilol...this stuff is kicking my butt!

Well, been on Carvedilol starting at 6.25 then increasing to 12mg after 2-3 weeks and then to 18.75 for about a month. The reason my cardiologist prescribed it (along with 325mg of Diovan) is to lower HR while I start a steady aerobic workout schedule.. I had my MR repaired in October...

Well, finally...joined the gym and actually going...

I find it SO hard to do any less than I am doing! I know I can push for more but that would be the typically stupid thing I expect to do when I'm starting..Today was typical...very hard to motivate tired from Tuesdays work out and the Coreg is hitting me hard..Had Red Bull and still was...

    Suggestions on increasing Coreg

Oh, sorry I missed that! I was on 12.5 milligrams and have been for about a month..I spoke to my doctor and he suggested I stay on the 18.75 and that I should stabilize on it in a few days..I have felt lightheaded a couple of times today and hate that feeling...It triggered off anxiety at the...

    Suggestions on increasing Coreg

Hi Guys Had my second Mitral Valve repair in October 2011. Surgery went very smoothly and I was actually amazed the surgeon was able to repair the valve, he had told me it had doubted he would be able but he'd do his best. He said, "It was easy". Haha.. ok! I did have follow up visits with my...

Well, finally...joined the gym and actually going...

I completed 2 weeks...and need to go 4x a week..I am not addicted yet (I wish) but the feeling of not going (ie disgust) is worse than the feeling of going! That's a start. Even after two weeks, my breaths are starting to feel deeper and a bit more satisfying! I feel like a real idiot to have...

Carvedilol and Heart Rate / Biking, jogging

Sounds like you are doing incredibly well. I had Mitral Valve repair in November and I foolishly didn't do rehab, which would have actually been fine, IF I was more diligent about aerobic exercise. Instead I thought I could just walk rather casually and it would be enough...Unfortunately that's...

Well, finally...joined the gym and actually going...

What I plan on and am doing a little is mixing it up during the treadmill workout...Soon, I try a bike and elliptical...But I'm just adding a minute run here and there within the 30 minute workout...I warm up for 5...stretch...and reset and do 30 minutes and then 5 minutes cool down, stretch and...

Well, finally...joined the gym and actually going...

I actually forgot to ask the doctor on what he suggested as to how often I should be doing this...I guess I could back it down (hate that) to go even slower...and maybe be less tired that will allow me to do this maybe 5x a week but right now 3 minimum and probably 4 maximum until I'm a little...

Well, finally...joined the gym and actually going...

I can see that happening...It's still really hard to get started but not doing it makes me feel worse. I'm not doing this new program on my own, it's strict doctors orders. Makes it easier when you know it's not just good idea! The reason I am taking the Diovan (max dose) and Coreg...

Well, finally...joined the gym and actually going...

I see the cardiologist tomorrow and am interested in his advice of course. I think he wants me to go to 25 Coreg 2x a day soon along with the 320mg Diovan...I hate having to take such high dosages but know that's what's needed so...of course I will. Funny how I heard a brief segment on CNBC...

Well, finally...joined the gym and actually going...

Hi Guys (and girls) I had my MV repaired last October (second time) and all went well...But while I live in NYC and walk, my doctor said I need to do aerobic exercise as my BP has risen and the echo showed EF of around 40%..He said that it is sure it will improve with medications and...
