    New Official Surgery Date

Hi Ottawagal, I'm so glad you got your date and that all is clear in there ;) I haven't checked back here in a while, but knew that you may be posting the date soon. Once you have it set, you've passed the first step. Having a to-do list is a great thing before you have surgery. I worked up...

    Medtronic Aorta Valve

Hi David, I also have the medtronics freestyle valve. I have had it since September 2008, so I am a newbie to it too. So far so good. I have my 6 month check up in March. I'll know more then. I too was also given Amiodarone for a month after my a-fib, but as of now I am on no medication...

    Strange Episodes

I do have slight anemia. I will have to check out and see if that is why I am getting these episodes. I've been taking some vitamins with iron in it, so I'm sure that helps. Thanks everyone!

    Strange Episodes

Thanks Everyone Thanks Everyone Thank you everyone for your advice and comments. I will check in with my cardio and make sure everything is well. I did have an appointment on October 28, which was less than a month ago, and she said I was doing great, so I will continue to rest and take it...

    Strange Episodes

Hi Everyone, I am about 9 weeks out and I am experiencing some weird occurrences. I have had double vision twice, which I did a search on here and it looks to be something others have experienced. Luckily, I was at home for both. I have also experienced a sensation I can feel coming on. I lose...

    Who's Going To Be Next!

Got mine today. I've never had one, but my cardio says it is a good idea since I had surgery so recently. I was really paranoid about getting sick and the mercury in it.. Again, I am a hypochondriac. I feel fine, and I am very happy about it. I actually got it at Walgreens... ;)

Which nonmechanical valve did you have implanted and are you using coumadin for afib?

I have a medtronics freestyle porcine valve in the aortic position. I had A-fib briefly in the hospital following surgery, and was placed on amioderone for 1 month, I am now off it and am currently taking 1 Lasix that is only temporary, then I will be on nothing. I did not and do not take...

Joining Steve in the Waiting Room!

Hey Wanda, I'm thinking about ya. Can't really help with the pulmonary valve situation, but I hope you will find your answers soon. I agree with Bina a second opinion wouldn't hurt. I was in the severe category also, and I needed surgery soon after I was diagnosed, about 6 months after. Of...

    af

Hey Neil, First of all, you are not a big baby, A-fib is scary... I had A-fib for a bit after surgery and was placed on amioderone. I was taken off it, after my insistence, after a month. I have not experienced any side affects from being on it, nor have I had A-fib again. What actually worked...

    Had my first check up

Thank you! Thank you! Thanks for the comments everyone. I took an ambien last night for the first time. I was desperate as it was 5 in the morning, and I feel really good this afternoon, no drowsiness, or anything. I did wake up briefly at 11:45am, but went back to sleep soon after. So for...

    Had my first check up

Hi everyone, I had my first check-up since surgery and my cardio says I am doing great. I have no fluid around my left lung anymore and I am no longer anemic. I asked her to go off the amioderone and 1 Lasix, and she said that was fine. I luckily did not experience the side affects I had heard...

How long in the waiting room?

Hi Nupur, I worked until the day before surgery. I was bumped from surgery a couple times due to lack of beds, and I went back home and back to work for the 2 day break. I found that working kept my mind on something else. It was a great comfort to me to be able to do something other than think...

I am home since the 12th of September

Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Hi Eva, I too just recently came home, on September 11. I understand the sweating and the worrying about the heart stuff. I too have gone through that a bit too. It is scary to have someone mess around in there, it's only natural to feel this way. I can only sleep...

emc07's surgery update... sorry it took me so long.

Thank you everyone! Thank you everyone! Thanks so much for the well wishes. It is great to be on the other side. I haven't even needed many pain pills. I've only taken a couple the first days, I can't believe I can go without them and feel good. Strange how your body bounces back like that...
