    I will say my mom had a pig mitral valve put in in 2005-she was VERY ill at the time. Couldn't walk across the street. The valve was damaged due to childhood rheumatic fever. She was 65. Her 83rd birthday is next month and that piggy still going strong! I think you have every reason to expect...

    Hi Pellicle! You are right..it probably is different for a younger patient to consider a pacer rather than an older individual like my mom. I guess I am so used to her situation that was truly life and death that I didn't consider a younger persons point of view. For my mom there was no choice...

    My mom got a biventricular pacemaker a year after her mitral valve replacement. Her heart was not beating in synch. That was in 2005. Like Lynn said my mom never thinks about hers-and hers has greatly improved her life and longevity a great deal. She was 65 at her replacement and she is 81 now :)

    73 And Scared

    My mom was 65-super sick couldn't walk across the street. She received a new mitral valve and a triple bypass. She is now 81 and still going strong. You will do great!!

    This is great to know. My mom's tricuspid is moderate-severe range-she is 80 and maybe this for her since she pretty high risk?

    My mom had her mitral valve replaced with a tissue valve in 2005. She is 80 now still going strong. We both had the J and J vaccine on March 9th. I had tiredness and a sore arm for a few days. My mom had nothing! Hope this helps!

    Pacemakers after Aortic Valve Replacement

    My mom needed a pacemaker after her mitral valve replacement in 2005. Hers is biventricular because her heart was not beating in synch. It has helped her tremendously!

    Longevity after heart valve replacement

    My mom has very ill when she had her mitral valve replaced in 2005. She was bad, couldn't even walk across the street. She was 65 at the time. Had a piggy valve implanted. She will be 80 in September and still going strong. So grateful!

    My mom has been on Plavix for years...but in the last couple of years he reduced her dose to 3 days a week....
