End of March traveling to the US for my OHS

Glad you can Tango. That's great. My surgery is in Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Patrick McCarthy is my surgeon. He was at the Cleveland Clinic before here. We will both be on the other side soon enough thankfully!

Made It To the Other Side

I'm sorry you had a rough time. Sometimes things don't go to plan and it's hard. I guess that's all of our biggest fear. I had some complications after my 2006 surgery (nothing like yours) and it played on my mind for a couple of years. It's rearing its ugly head again now as I prepare for round...

End of March traveling to the US for my OHS

I'm so sorry it's for so long. A month will be really tough. Will you be able to Skype at all? At least then he'll hear you voice and you can see him too. Yes. I had my Mitral replaced in 2006 and I'm getting my Aortic and possibly Mitral done in 2 weeks.

End of March traveling to the US for my OHS

My oldest daughter was 6 months old when I had my first surgery. I did find it hard. I didn't have to travel, but didn't see her for the 7 days I was in the hospital. The baby is 20 months and she was mad at me when she came to visit last week. She hit me when she saw me first...

    Saw surgeon again today

When I was having a strong MRI the technicians used my card to determine if it was okay to have the MRI. Certain strong MRIs (not the techincal term) cannot be done with certain types of valves.

    Coming back

Hi all, I was a member a few years ago but can't remember my login and my e-mail address is changed. I'm scheduled to have my aortic valve and part of my aorta replaced in 2 weeks, also possibly replacing mitral again. I'll opt for mechanical valves as I'm a lifelong coumadin user now anyway...

Recommend a post-surgical bra and other clothing questions

Hi Just wondering if any women bought a bra specifically for after surgery. I'd like one that opens in the front and is easy to put on. I was still nuring 7 years ago so I think I just used a non-underwire nursing bra, but needed help putting it on. I can't remember if it worked out or not. All...
