    Ross Young

I am checking in about once a year, hoping that everyone is doing well and was shocked to see the sad news. I kept hoping that Ross would hang on and beat the odds but it wasn't meant to be. He was so kind and helpful after my husband's valve surgery. He will be missed! Deepest condolences to...

multi vitimin and coq10 and inr levels

My husband started taking Q10 and a Multi 2 month prior his mitral valve repair surgery and started it up again about 4 weeks post-op. He was supposed to be on Coumadin for 3 months but stopped before. His INR was all over the map anyways (start up time) and the 100 mg Q10 did not seem to affect...

    Antibiotics for colonoscopy?

Thanks for all the input. I will post what the cardio said. Good luck Harrybaby and tprice 54 with your colonoscopies!

    Antibiotics for colonoscopy?

Adrienne, thanks for your input. Which year did you have it done? The updated guidelines were from 2007 and 2008. I too think if there is a polyp there would be blood but maybe it's a different bacteria? We'll see what the cardio thinks....

    Antibiotics for colonoscopy?

My husband is supposed to have his first colonoscopy soon and we were told by the doctor that the AHA and ASGE no longer recommend prophylaxis for this. They said he can have the IV antibiotics if he insists on it but it is not necessary. We will consult cardio next week to make sure. He doesn't...

    Bp through the roof!!

I hope your doc. appt. is very soon! Are you exercising and watching your sodium intake? Both lower BP. Thyroid and kidney function normal? Both affect BP. You should have a full check up. How is your sleeping? Were you ever tested for sleep apnea? This can cause high BP too... There are...

Ross you are the MAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same error message. I asked admin. about it and they got back to me promptly that it was a glitch and it was fixed. No problem visiting both sites. Grateful to both Ross and Hank for a valve forum!! Thankfully my husband has long moved on since his surgery, never looks back and lucky...

    I can't take this anymore!

I am so sorry that happened to you. You must be so sore! Definately call your cardio! My husband did pass out too because of peeing. It was right after his OHS - the day he was released - his body still weak and shedding meds from surgery so he had quite a stream of urine going (sorry to be so...

    Probiotics and heart valves

More articles - probiotics and endocarditis http://jmm.sgmjournals.org/cgi/content/full/53/5/451 http://informahealthcare.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00365540110026953 what do you think?

    Probiotics and heart valves

I think it's when you isolate them that it could be a problem... My husband always took probiotics and still does after his mitral valve repair and now after reading this I don't know either. It does seem rather rare though... Found this article...

I want to vent! My leg hurts!

I am very sorry you have such pain. I don't have an answer for you but am wondering if running on a softer surface might be better? Did you run on asphalt before? Have yoy tried running in the woods or a soft indoor track to see if that makes a difference? I am a former athlete who had to give...

    A bit worried

Adrienne, think of it that way, according to your cardio 70% of repairs last! My husband's surgeon said it should last, no guarantees though. Focus on the 70 %!:) And often repaired valves can be re-repaired but let's not even go there! Wishing you worry-free holidays! Good luck!

    A bit worried

Adrienne I too hope it is nothing to worry about, especially since you are asymptomatic. My husband gets yearly echos at the Royal Vic with immediate results from cardio there. Surgeon's office books his appt. automatic each year. Hopefully you will be able to get yearly echos as well! Bestwishes

    Gotta lose the weight.

I have done detox in the past - not to loose weight but just to stay healthy. Honestly I would think doing a full detox is a not good idea right now as it stresses the body but you certainly could incorporate some of the raw food recipes in your healthier life style. The easiest way of cutting...
