I have a mechanical mitral valve, and had afib. Had ablations (2x 7 hour procedures) to successfully eliminate the afib. They modeled the heart with ct scans prior to the procedure. Last ablation was done in 2012 and so far still afib free.

Hello all, Just completed 6 weeks of antibiotic IV treatment, for endocarditis from bacterium. Latest TEE still showed presence of vegetation on my on-x mitral valve. Does anyone know what the risks are leaving vegetation on valve?

Dr Hon Lee did my surgery in Kaiser Santa Clara Homestead - he came highly recommended for Mitral Valve replacement/repair. Unfortunately cannot comment on the over 80 part.
