    6 year anniversary tomorrow

I really had no symptoms. I had my annual echo and the cardio said " my, you have a lot of extra heart beats! Lets do an EKG". My heart rate was 160 and I felt nothing. As I look back, I think my stamina was not what it should have been, but it was very, very gradual. As I mentioned, I was...

Steve, good to read your posts again. You and I went through the ordeal basically the same week and shared several posts. We're still kicking, although I'm now dealing with Afib.

    6 year anniversary tomorrow

Tomorrow is my sixth anniversary of my aortic valve replacement. Everything is going great. For people in the waiting room, it doesn't take all that long until you will not think about it every day. Last summer I did develop Afib, probably do to intense stress I was under at the time. 3...

    Tissue Valve vs. Mechanical Valve?

I had my aortic valve and root replaced 4/2011 with a bovine valve. The operation was on a Friday morning , my wife saw me at 5:00 Friday evening. Saturday afternoon I took a short walk down the hall. The tubes and catheter were taken out Sunday afternoon and I went to a step down unit Sunday...

    1st one

1 year ago today I had my Aortic Valve replaced. I'm still tickin' and still kickin'. I am greatful everyday for my anonymous bovine donor friend that made the ultimate sacriface for me. Steak is still difficult to eat...but it's getting easier! I am also very greatful to all of you who kept...

valve choice with ascending aorta replacement?

I had the same surgery you are having 1 year ago next week. I didn't know about needing a graft until the surgeon saw something he didn't like on my echo. He ordered a cat scan and saw the problem with the aorta.I went the tissue route with the datascope graft. After the surgery I ask him about...

    Tissue vs. Mechanical

    1. John 2. 62 3. Edwards Life Science bovine My 1 year anniversary is in 2 weeks. I've been thinking about the surgery a lot recently. My surgery and recovery were so uneventful that the thought of a re-do does not really bother me(at this point). Can't say enough about the stress and worry...

    1 Year Anniversary - Feb 1st - but ....

I' m getting close to 1 year, March 4. When I first get up in the morning, I always feel a stiffness in my chest. After I'm up and moving it all goes away. Once in a while I will have some wired feelings in my chest, not pain, just weird, but I'm convinced it's not heart related. Everyone has...

Yet Another BAV newbie - I'm from NC

Hang in there Jan and get it done. I was pretty much where you are 8 months ago. Trust me and everyone else, the thinking and worrring about it will drive you insane. It did me! But, that is absolutly the worst part. I think about it once in a while, but the thought passes quickly. Get it done...

    surgery moved

I understand your feelings exactly. I was scheduled for Monday, Feb. 14. The surgeon's office called me at 4:00 the Friday afternoon before as I was leaving work and said the dr. had to do an emergency operation on Monday and I was re scheduled for almost 3 weeks later. It is a BIG let down,but...

Checking in around the six month post op.

Good to hear Jason! My surgery was March 4 and I too have had no complications. I agree , life on the other side is good. The cardio's office left a voice mail today saying they want me to have an echo before my Oct. appointment. I'm guessing it's a 6mo post op thing. Let's get it all done now...
