    Palpitations even post OP.

Hopefully they can get it figured out for you. I've almost grown accustomed to mine, so when they happen, I can almost ignore them. (unless they persist for more than a few seconds)

    Palpitations even post OP.

Sometimes when I run up the stairs at my place of work, I will get a bout of rapid/irregular heart beat. I told my cardiologist about it, and she didn't seem concerned about it all. Considering I had been having that a lot more in the past, and the fact that I am having them less and less...

    Sternum Wire Removal

Well, that was a pretty simple procedure. It took about an hour and a half. They removed all of them under general anesthesia. I did have a bit of trouble with the breathing tube when I woke up. I choked on it pretty nicely and they just yanked it out. At least that's how I remember it...

    Sternum Wire Removal

I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm looking forward to not having these dang things jabbing out of my chest. It looks like a xylophone haha.

    Sternum Wire Removal

The top 2 are causing a bit of pain. There are about 3, midway down that are protruding out. They aren't exposed, but they do seem to be coming further out as time goes on. I'm also having some chest/pectoral muscle tightness near the one that is sticking out the most. Sometimes even simply...

    Sternum Wire Removal

Well, 1 year and 2 months after my AVR, I will be going "back under." Only this time, I am merely having my sternum (maybe it's sternal haha) wires removed. I might actually be a little more nervous about this than I was for my original surgery. What I'm not entirely sure about, is whether or...

Pacing wires, low aortic valve, things I didn’t learn about until after surgery…

After my AVR in July of this year, they found out that I had a unicuspid valve. It had never really given me any trouble until I turned 27 in March of this year.

    Revo Surescan Pacing system

Haha yeah yeah, I know I really have nothing to fear. I really need to quit reading stuff on the internet. The more time I have, the more I read about all of these what-ifs. Seriously though, thanks, it is always reassuring to have a little bit of insight in to the process.

    Revo Surescan Pacing system

Does anybody here have the Medtronic Revo MRI-safe pacemaker? I received one of these, so as to continue my annual MRI to check my aorta dilation. I am a bit nervous about my next MRI, as I now have a pacemaker. I know that they must be completely safe or they wouldnt market them as MRI-safe...

Hey guys, Almost 2 Months post and many heart related questions.

I feel ya on this one Larry. I had mine on July 9, and I am just now to the point where I feel about like I did pre-op (which wasn't too great). Like you, the surgeon and cardiologist seem to think everything looks fine. So who knows. I guess it does just take a longer amount of time for...

911 call for SVT.. facing ablation or back on Toprol

I have been prone to SVT's before and after my AVR. I am currently on 50mg of metoprolol, and it seems to work decently enough. They also mentioned that an ablation could be a possible solution. Perosnally, if I were in your situation, I would at least learn more about the procedure. I am in...

    10 days later...

Once again, thanks for all the info. I just found out yesterday, at my follow up with my cardiologist, that I actually had a unicuspid aortic valve, instead of the bicuspid. I thought that was pretty wild.

    10 days later...

I had some good comany today and that helped pass the time. I'm not 100% sure that some of my problem isn't caused by me festering on things that I can't really change. I'm feeling a bit better at the moment. It's looking very strongly like I will get out tomorrow. Maybe a change of scenery...
