Seven years, 5,000 miles and 3 marathons ago...I put forth upon this body a nasty 9 inch scar.
So far, so good. My last check-up in October (after marathon #2), showed that the residual murmur from the pulmonary had ceased. I sounded "Perfectly normal".
I know everyone is different and no two...
Marty, The valves are opposite. My pulmonary valve was moved into the aortic slot and a cadaver valve was used to replace the pulmonary. The cadaver valve in the pulmonary slot will last longer since the pulmonary valve does not get the wear-n-tear of the aortic.
I had no complications or...
I was an ideal candidate for the ross procedure and my surgeon did recommend ross over tissue because of my active lifestyle. No regrets.
Marty, meet a tissue marathoner.
:) Kiwi kicked OH's butt!!!
Definitely not one of life's challenges that you sign up for...but fighting through Open Heart recovery is quite an accomplishment. Good Job.
Happy to see you on the other side. Welcome to the rest of your life! You have my total respect for the way that you handled the set backs on getting the thing done and the way that you cruised through the hospital stay. I'll send you some snow to help cool off. :)
Ditto what Al said. You don't want to wake up not breathing five days away from getting the thing fixed. Don't hesitate getting yourself to the ER. This is not a good time to try and tough it out.
Absolutely shocking and heart breaking. She fought so hard through all of the complications in surgery and recovery. My prayers are with her children and family.
