Does the sound of the "click" made by mechanical valves have any correlation to inr

Well said by Tom. Cardiologist has commented in a positive way when the crisp ticking sound is made, but I only notice a more pronounced tick when I take a deep breath.

Feeling "pushed" into surgery too soon?

Hi Maverick and Welcome. Can your name be anymore fitting? :) I doubt you can get many opinions from those who elected on waiting too long for the surgery and resulting in a bad outcome although you obviously don't have the aneurysm along with the BAV many of us have had . My apologies if that...

One Year Valversary - Monday 10/22/13

Sorry, for any miscue - My surgery was early on a Monday and I had that stuck in my head when I created the thread. Funny looking back as I remember being concerned and even asking the Surgeon and Staff if anyone involved liked to party hard over the weekend. I was worried somebody might be a...

Question(s) on how to start home monitoring

Hello Gang, Now almost 8 months post-op and I'm interested in home testing for INR. Can somebody direct me on where to start? I'm hoping I can just go to a manufacturer / distributor online and seeing if they can provide all the necessary steps in obtaining one. Is that the way it works...

    When to return to work?

I'm a desk jockey (engineer) and at 6 weeks, although my sternum was healed, I wan't too comfortable going back to work at first. I think this was mostly psychological though as within a few days, I was quickly noticing how much better I was feeling. I think because prior to returning to work...

    made it

Welcome to the club and glad you are here (well sort of ;)). I was told by my surgeon, cardiologist and Dr., the cardio rehab was not necessary. But, heck if it helps in anyway, go for it! I don't lift anything like Thegymguy, but I do exercise 5-6 times a week along with lots of physical...

Waiting for AV replacement. Any telltale signs or symptoms?

My symptoms came on so slowly, I though I was just "getting old" and having a midlife crises. The BAV was depleting my energy while I believe the aneurysm was causing severe fatigue. I was tired all the time but could not sleep! So here now almost 8 months post surgery and I feel like a kid...

How many of you chose your valve type based on what others on here went with?

My surgeons experience (most type of valves used) along with his personal preference (although this was hard to get as he didn't want to influence my choice) and my age all led me to my valve choice. Make the best choice for you and try not to second guess it (easier said than done). Warfarin...
