Yes, Definitely let your Docs know. I had something they thought was a little Afib for a few weeks. They gave me a couple of drugs to take for a month until it cleared up.
Wow you do have a lot to think about! Best of luck on all of it! I just got my mechanical and have peace knowing the odds are that I shouldn't need another OHS. As far as Warfin goes, I dont see an issue with it. My INS is stable at 2.8 and all is good.
Only have had mine for 2 months, but it feels itchy from time to time. A trick that works for me is to rub it with a flat hand (easy on the scar and skin) the sensation "confuses" the nerves. Works for mild pain too.
My cardiologist explained that mechanical valves by design will have have a minor murmur. He went on to tell me if a doc ever tells me he hears a LOUD murmur to get my butt in his office ASAP because I have a valve problem.
There are to kinds of Metoprolol. epstns, it sounds like you are on the once a day version. ask for the twice a day version and it will level out. (At least mine did.)
I agree, the tube is the worst part! Mine was difficult to get in and hurt like heck when I breathed. They kept saying breath deep. Well how do you breath deep when it hurts? I finally convinced them to take it out and put me on my cpap machine. It took alot of pointing and gesturing but got it...
Thanks for the well wishes everyone. When I got work today, all heck broke loose, so I'll have plenty to occupy my mind. Planning a relaxing weekend in Chicago and then home Sunday and surgery on Monday!
Scheduled for 7 a.m. on the 24th. BAV with a St. Jude's mechanical if all goes according to plan. I wasn't nervous until this week.....I may need some liquid courage to make the time fly :)

Not all of us have a choice. I inquired about On-X and was told the hospital only stocked one brand to keep costs of inventory down. It is either a bovine or St. Jude for me. Leaning towards the St. Jude.
