Very sorry to hear about the loss of your Lady! Any of us who have pets & have experienced the pain of losing them, can relate to how you're feeling right now. :(

Thanks everyone for your words of love and concern. I was up at 5:00 this morning because I thought I heard Lady crying to come in. I know I will get over it but it's going to take a while. Lady had been so attending to me when I was going through such a hard time with my chemo and all my other surgeries. I'm really am mad at myself that I didn't decide to go be with her as she was being put down. I could have held her for one for time. I'll always be sorry for that, but the vet said she was in so much pain that she wouldn't have known that I was there. I think she would have, she was so sensitive to my needs and I failed her at the end. That's going to be hard to forgive myself for. My husband was so adamant that I not do that. He said I was way too upset.

Lyn thanks for the beautiful poem "Rainbow Bridge." I sincerely hope all my furry friends will be waiting to greet me when I pass. That is such a comforting thought!

Glenda, I have been with some of my pets when they had to be euthanized, and your vet is right. My one little dog in particular who went through about what your Lady did, was so ill before I took him to the vet that he was in shock. He didn't know where he was, nor did he have any signs that he was aware of anything.

You were there with Lady caring for her when she was so ill and she knew you were helping her then.

You have done all the right things.

God bless.

I know how you feel Glenda..

I know how you feel Glenda..

My deepest condolences Glenda. Words don't seem enough to express the sorrow I feel for you on the loss of your beloved dog "Lady". We get so close to these creatures and when they depart we are heart broken. But like with everything, time will heal the wounds and we can think on the memories that we have. I am sure he had a wonderful life with you.

I know how you feel because I lost my beloved "Oliver" this past Tuesday. He was the last cat we had. Oliver was a beautiful shaded silver persian. We bought him as a tiny kitten along with his sister Pepper when they were maybe 10 weeks old and he was almost 18 when we put him down last Tuesday. Pepper was put down two years ago. Oliver had a urinary tract blockage and the treatment for that was too much for an old kitty like he so the vet said the most loving thing we could do was to put him down. So we did. It was very hard but my husband and I were with Oliver as they administered the drug as we were with all of our other cats in the past when they were put down.

Glenda... like me, you will be okay.:) We don't want our furry friends to hurt and be in pain so the most humane thing we can do for them is put them down. You did the right thing.

Hugs,

Oh Glenda...I'm so very sorry. You took very good care of Lady and loved her so much. It's so hard to lose them. Those of us who have and love pets know that these times will come but that doesn't make it any easier. I will keep you in my prayers. LINDA

I'm so, so sorry. This has happened to me twice and I know how you feel. Our beloved pets don't live as long as we do--it doesn't seem fair. It will get better with time. My heart goes out to you.

Hi Glenda

Trust me when I say, I KNOW where you are right now. The most difficult thing we can do for our furbabies is make that horrible decision to do what is best for them. You did that and know that she is still with you. I truly don't believe they leave your side until they know you're ready to go on. Someone once told me that the highest honor you can pay your dog and their memory is to not be able to live without another one. I know it hurts now, and I know, too, that no other will ever take her place, but you know you did what you had to do for your girl.

I will put you in my prayers.

Evelyn

Oh Glenda....I am so very sorry to hear about Lady...

Ole' Harrybaby is wishing you nothing but the best in God's comfort and healing during this very sad time. I have been through the losses of 3 family pets and so I know just how very badly it hurts to lose a pet that you love unconditionally and who returns the love unconditionally. My (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Huge Hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and prayers are with you in this sad time. Harrybaby:eek::eek::eek:

I'm so sorry to hear this, and agree with Laurie when she says that our
pets are too good for this world. It may be that God has given them to us
as our guides, but only for a short time, as they are too fine for this world.
I have faith I will see my friends again,as I think we all will.

Dear Glenda, I am so sorry to read this. I know how important animals can be. I miss those I have lost, and it's been decades for some. Sending a big hug, Brian

Glenda,

I am saddened to learn of Lady's passing. She sounds like she was a wonderful companion and faithful friend. It was three months ago yesterday our Pongo lost her battle with heart failiure. I am still having a difficult time with it even though we adopted have another very precious dog two months ago today.

The folks at petloss.com have been very supportive.

Karl

Thanks everyone for the wonderful wishes. I didn't think there could be anymore tears and I came across a picture on my camera that I had took of Lady two weeks ago and here came the darn tears again. It is getting easier to talk about her to people without making a fool out of myself. She was such a great dog and loved very much. Now I'm waiting on my litte "Cuddles" who is 15 to pass too. She's the Bichon Frise. She's a precious little dog too. She got her name because she always liked to cuddle under my neck when she was younger. She's getting so old, she can't hear, can't see very well, can hardly walk because of an earlier hip surgery, her hair is falling out but she still eats and drinks and loves treats. She finally quit looking for Lady all over the house. For a couple of days she would go from room to room looking for her, it was so sad. She would even go to the garage door going out of the kitchen and dig on it wanting Lady to come in.

We will all heal with time, and there will be another dog in my life. I just can't live without my furry friends. We would like to travel to Texas to see some friends for a week and then we've talked about an Alaskan Cruise. We couldn't go before because I didn't want to leave Lady or Cuddles. I've got an indoor cat too but he basically can take care of himself.

Thanks again friends. You are the best! !

Oh, Glenda ... very sorry for your loss :(.
