As I posted on the pre-surgery forum, I have decided on Dr Sundt at Mayo, and my surgery date is up a week to June 4th. When comparing my two experiences with 2 consult opinions, quite different. At MAYO, definintely more experience and more confidence for my particular procedure (And Sundt had a doctor with him just following him around) BUT pretty quick and straight forward- not much for small talk, got right to scheduling.
Also, no need for an angiogram at Mayo- he said, "You dont need that, your 30. which saves me a whole day at the hospital and one less procedure. Kind of a whirlwind visit. My husband and I left there thinking- what just happened? But all in all, comparing a Dr who sees 250-300 people a year, 1/3 of which have similar procedures as I do, to a Dr who does 4-5 a year, I guess my choice was obvious, even if it is not as convenient. I suppose I should feel lucky that the MAYO is only an hour and a half drive. But living in the cities, that is quite a drive!
Thanks again to all! I welcome Mayo and or Sundt stories :)

yes, i agree, but this will technically be the 2nd time, since I currently have a tissue valve. but hopefully this will be the last time! :)

Definitely ask about home INR testing. I know that Mayo has been pro home testing (as every doctor and facility should be) and has even sent people home with their own monitors.
