Hi all,
Just a quick question.
I've got Chloe off school today because shes got a bad throat and has been sick a few times. Question is, a few minutes ago when she was sick I noticed a tiny bit of blood in it (really tiny - like just a thread).
Is this a doctor thing do you think? Or just where she's been so sick??

Dealt with a a few funny things but not this one before. Any advice greatfully recieved

Love Emma

Hon that sounds like Strep Throat to me! I imagine it could be a highly irritated sore throat, but if it's bleeding too...................

Hiya Ross,
Is strep throat what I might call tonsillitis? Sort of throat infection? If so, I agree and have just made doctors appointment for her for later today.

Not used to seeing her looking so poorly and sorry for herself. She's even been asking when she can go to the doctor to get medicine to make her throat stop hurting.

And hows you too honey?? Not been around with problems with internet so I'm all behind. How's Chris doing with his leg now?

Tonsillitis will only involve the tonsils and they'll be RED and BIG with some whiteish pus pockets on them. Strep will cause the entire back of the throat to look fire engine red and quite angry looking. Only way to know for sure is take her to the Doc for throat cultures.

Having a time getting over Bonnie. Watching and waiting on my own aneurysm to get big enough for them to pay attention to it. Chris is stuck at the same point. Can't use the foot and they don't seem to be in any hurry to lop if off either.

Ah right, then I don't know which it is cos she won't put her tongue down for me to get a good look at her throat. I can see red but not sure where. Hopefully doctor will poke her tongue out of the way and get a good old look.

Bonnie's passing was a huge shock to me all the way over here, so I can only imagine how hard it must be for you all who 'knew' her and had spoken to her for so long now... a special lady!

Sounds crappy about your aneurysm! I HATE those 'wait and see' situations! And didn't realise Chris' foot problem was that serious! Sounds nasty... is he still seeing people for it??

Doesn't this life make you wonder where the word 'fair' comes into it sometimes??!

Emma, STREP is short for Streptococcal infection. It's a bacterial infection. They'll need to swab out her throat and culture it. They have a quick strep test that they do here that gives the results almost right away, but they always run the 24 hour test too. Even if they do a quick test and it's negative, they may want to start her on antibiotics until the 24 hour one comes back.

If she is sick to her stomach and has a sore throat, it's could be STREP. The infection from the throat dripping into the stomach makes the stomach upset.

Even if she doesn't have a sore throat, they may want to run a strep test.

I especially hate hearing wait for "5" when my thoracic never made it to that before blowing. I want it stented and stented today! The hell with numbers.

Hi Emma, sorry Chloe is so poorly, hope it passes over soon, let us know how you get on at the doctors. Nice to see you back, take care.

The verdict was a nasty case of tonsillitis. Clo is now curled up on daddy's lap feeling very sorry for herself and has started on anti-biotics which are, and I quote... 'Yuck and disgusting!'

Bleeding just cos she was so violently sick, nothing to worry about.

Thankyou so much for the messages!

Ross, really hope you get them to listen about that daft number! You pay directly for your medical care there too don't you -doesnt that mean you should get more of a say??

Emma,
Give Chloe a kiss for me, please.

meant to add, the sickness and lack of eating has sent her INR nicely up to 6.2.
Ah well, small adjustments and it'll sooon come down. All fun with a heart child!

And thanks Mary - shall do that now! (Maybe send one back to John from me?? ;) )

Glad to read that they diagnosed it and she is on antibiotics- kisses and best wishes that she's feeling better soon!

If only it were that simple. Just getting these people to communicate with each other is a project and a half. Getting them all to agree would be a disaster.

Oh jeez Ross I can so agree with you on that. My son had a team of ortho, vascular, neural and plastic surgeons working to save his arm. To me, as the advocate it seemed that sometimes they were working at cross purposes and finally I insisted that they all come to his bed at the same time at least once while he was awake. Finally, they began to communicate with each other and this was after the poor young man had had 5 surgical procedures after the first 7 hours in the OR the day of the accident.

Communication with the patient is only part of the difficulties, communicating with each other can seem insurmountable to them. ...

Sorry to threadjack, Emma, Ross's comments struck a chord.

Take Heart.
