gosh those women make lots of money, don't they? could this be called 'taxes for sex'............

That's what I said to my husband!:p

What a foolish man the governor is.:(

I feel for his family. This is sad for them.

Now as for him, he was totally stupid. There may be addiction at the helm to do something so risky in such a high level position.

smile, you're on candid camera.......

smile, you're on candid camera.......

You know........I'm rather tired and bored with these politicians dragging their wives out in front of the bright lights and camera and hiding behind their skirts while they "apologize" for their own misdeeds....from patting the foot in the old loo to hiring a prostitute to whatever.

Next thing you know, the idiot will be on TV announcing he's going into rehab monday morning for his 'addiction'...:D

Seems all a celebrity or politician (is there a difference?!?!) has to do is apologize and go into rehab...and then they get on with their lives.

Like the old woman in the Wendy's commercial used to say, "Where's the beef".

It's going to get much worse than this before it's over, I am afraid, when the whole story comes out.

His family are the real victims here.

Can you imagine how you would be feeling if you were in his wife and daughters' places? Such an embarrassment, and all under a great big spotlight, not to mention that his family will never see him in the same light again.

He has lost so much for a few moments of pleasure.

But they have lost much more and for life.

I have also heard mention of links to organized crime. I don't know where that is going, but I suppose the whole tawdry deal will be in the news for a long time.

He was such a tough prosecutorial figure.

If Joe were here he would be all over this story! He loved politics and was a die hard Republican. He'd be in his glory, probably glued to the TV news.

So what do you think about that story, Joe???

What, a politician and a prostitute:eek:   ....What distresses me is that this type of thing seems to be brushed over, swept away and forgotten and even excepted.....The "oldest profession"' has been around forever and forever will be....With media and the WWW, everything is instant news....It is sad that we as a nation seem to feed on this type of news...adding flame to the fire that burns at our moral foundation (what's left of it).

heard a guy on cnn yesterday say that we, the people, make too much of these sorts of things.

I agree about the poor wife/children. The wife standing stoicly behind the 'husband' when you know she wants to knock him sideways. I wonder when one of them will do it right in front of the whole world.

The Governor's actions could probably be charged as a felony due to the crossing of state lines to engage in prostitution. A felony probably bars him from office, even if he didn't decide to resign.

Those who know the reputation of Mr. Spitzer know that, in his high profile career as a prosecutor, he would go right for the throat of anyone else that might be caught in similar circumstances. Its not a perfect fit, but this so reminds me of the parable of the man with the huge debt he couldn't pay, but ready to choke the man who owed him a much smaller sum of money.

There are many lessons here. One of those lessons is that a healthy dose of humility and mercy is appropriate for all of us. It is proper to react with shock, anger, and eventually justice. Beyond that, Mr. Spitzer (in my opinion) is about to experience first hand the ultra harsh, almost gleeful punishment he has made a career of inflicting on others. Be careful lest you fall.

I'm tired of hearing political pundits on the TV and radio speaking about it as if it's a private matter and not the concern of the public. An affair is a private matter. Breaking the law, or laws surrounding that affair or because of that affair is a public matter. And Spitzer's actions were not really an affair but an illegal sex business transaction. If he had been caught growing his own marijuana and smoking it in the privacy of his home - is that a private matter? The laws say "no".
