mechanical av with moderate regurg.

Hi,
Three+ years ago I had an aortic valve replaced. I am told that it is showing moderate insufficiency due to sclerosis. Also have some stenosis.
Is it possible I have some pannus or is it thrombis and will it require surgery and will it happen again. I'm scheduled for a cath this week.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having this problem. Wait to see what the cath says. It may be something that needs to be fixed right away, or it may be something they wait on. So try not to second guess until the cath is done.

Just to add in 2003,having my aortic valve done in 1992 they found in 2003
that my study was technically difficult and felt with those results(technically difficult) that id need due to arortic regurgitation being mild to moderate and mild to moderate stenosis on the mitral valve i was suppose to have artrial enlargement,the conclusion was my aortic valve wasnot functioning normally and stenosis was redeveloping so they told me i needed surgery over again i still have the letter and at that point and time if someone tells me its a difficult study.im moving to another opinion...which i did and a cath was performed and it was fine the valve.there is mild to moderate regurgitation but nothing to worry bout then they said and last time i was in in 2006 the mitral took some beating and was suppose to be back to check and never went.a cath should answer all your questions and i wish you the best of everything ,good luck with this

Zipper, are you saying they told you your aortic valve needed to be replaced but, when you had a cath it was fine? Did you have echos? What did they say? I would love a miracle but, all the surgeons I have talked to said the gradient is the determining factor as shown on the echo. I'm a little confused.
