I should have known. My underwear and socks stock pile is dwindling toward none and it's all because of you stealing my women!

Let's hear it for the heart moms! Lyn and Janet and all the others that keep a special eye out for worried moms of kids with valve problems. And Hank and Ross and Bob and Mary and... Everybody!

What an excellent topic. How can we ever thank Hank and Ross for all of their work. Nancy, you are the greatest! You still are helping people any way that you can. Al, you have been most helpful when the coumadin devil raises his head and sends bad vibes!!!

We are not posting as much lately, but were one of the early members. In 1971 we had NO IDEA what to expect. In fact, Joann did not know if she would survive. We were never told about coumadin, the clicking sounds, the need for antibiotics during dentist visits, etc. Today, you all learn about these issues prior to the surgery. There were no choices for valves except the Starr-Edwards.

God Bless all of you for helping each other. Still clicking after 35 years, 11 months, 2 weeks. We will post a 36 year anniversary in December.

Joann in Beautiful Ohio. Home of the winning Buckeyes!!!

You're all great. Thank you to all VR.Com members for your info, support & just for being there.

  When is recess going to be over so you two little boys can get back to class?  :D

I would have to say Ross, Karlynn and Gina have pulled me out of quite a few freak-outs, the worst being when Nathan was in ICU with bacterial endocarditis and I ran 4 hours home to get a couple of things and we were awaiting lab results to see if it was strep or staph and he hadn't made a valve choice. Ross was there with a quick reply...with many to follow. Many are still here posting. Nathan, Randy and Toni went through AVR close to the same time, and to us, it felt like there was safety in numbers :D RCB and Bob, also great help.

Hank's story under the memebers stories actually tipped us of that Nathan actually had endocarditis after being missed by 4 docs-that is what got the rolling. I know one 40 year old father of 2 who died 6 months ago of BE Strep, and another that had a stroke 1 year ago. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

These things I could never have enough words of thank yous. Eternally grateful. This is a great community with so much info and supportive memebers.

I've just finished reading the entire thread again and now my reasons for posting are doubly clear. You are amazing people and I'm so glad to have found you. I wish I'd found you sooner. Next time I'm at the cardiologist and surgeon, I'll be making certain that they post this web address. I think I'll ask my PCP to get the site info out there, into our local health community.

You are never so alone as when you learn you're going to need to risk your life in order to save it. Your companionship to everyone about to climb the mountain is invaluable.
I just want to say thank you again to all of you Heartwarming Folks.

I too am fairly new to this forum & have become almost addicted to it; but a good addiction I may add!

I start my morning by reading the posts & drinking a cup of coffee & then check in from time to time during the day as time permits. I love the opportunity to be able to interact with others that share the same fears, hopes, frustrations, anxieties, etc., & share in the simple joy of being alive!

Thank you to Hank & Ross & to all the others that make this forum a part of my extended family!:)

God Bless,

Norma Jean

Norma Jean, about 5 years ago I could have written your post almost word for word. Now, I may not post as much as I once did but I usually check in throughout the day a couple of times and check who is having surgeries and how the members with new surgeries are doing. Even if I don't post in a thread I pray for those who are having rocky times and especially those having surgery. I know there are many others who do the same thing. I know I have benefited so much from this site and appreciate everyone here so much.
