Hi, all--

Good news: Mom is still trucking along and getting better every day, though her arrival home is still up in the air due to urinary issues. Thought you might like to know. She is a strong gal.

Anyway, my one-year anniversary of my valve repair is coming up the 16th, and though that weekend I'll be busy making my final exams, I'd like to celebrate with the hubby. Any ideas?

What did you do for your 1st valve anniversary? (I did overhear a couple students "plotting" to get me a cake...yum...;) )

Thanks,
Debi (debster913)

For the first anniversary of my St. Jude valve, I went to Hawaii with my SO and we also took my mom who was celebrating her 70th birthday. Quite a memorable time for all of us.

Gina,
Hawaii sounds SO good right now, you have no idea... ahh....
Can I get someone to sub my classes until the end of the year...anyone...?

Actually I really miss California so maybe we can work something out.;) :D ;)

Cool deal!
Actually, the weather is a bit weird right now...not nearly warm enough.
But, you'd love my students! They're awesome kids!

Debi, so glad your mom is doing a bit better!

My husband just had his anniversary - we did nothing special. I just prepared a nice dinner and let the dogs bounce on him in the morning as they do on birthdays. Nice awakenings - one dog was practicing CPR:)
On his one year echo (shortly after) we went out for dinner. We really have to write the surgeon a big thank-you card too for each anniversary (hopefully many). I am usually more organized.

Have a great anniversary soon! You deserve the cake:)

I did not do much. I remember when I got up I thought about it, said a little prayer of thanks and went to work.

It was nice to have a few emails and PM's from very special friends. The best thing about OHS is you guys.:p ;)

My 1 year anniversary celebration was simple, but sweet.....my wife and I wined & dined at our favourite "fancy" restaurant. Then I topped it off at home with a nice glass of XO cognac.

We just stayed home and relaxed, and gave thanks that we had something to celebrate.
We sent thank you cards to my surgeon and all my blood donors as well.
The next day was our wedding anniversary and then we celebrated with our kids and grandkids.
Now almost eleven years later, we still do the same things.
Maybe not too exciting but a really peaceful feeling.

It was just

It was just

another day in 7th grade- never celebrated. I had to look up the date several years ago to remember. Kids didn't get the attention they do today.
I WILL celebrate in 2010- everybody here is invited.:D

My one year is coming up June 20th. Can't believe a year has flown by so fast.
I'm going to have a birthday party for my one year old heart and celebrate with family members that came with me to Stanford for my surgery. It will be a praise and prayer celebration. Hope you have a great celebration too.
