Hi. I've posted in the past, but thought I'd let you know a little about me. My name is Peg and I've a bicuspid arota valve since birth. They did a PDA when I was two and said something else was wrong but at that time they didn't know what it was. They just said to wait as long as I could and maybe technology would catch up with me. That was 50 years ago and the time has come to do something!
I went to the surgeon yesterday and set a date for Tuesday, May 15 with a cath on the 14th. I could kind of think of other things until yesterday and now it seems to soon! Wish me luck and please put me on your prayer list. I'll let you know how it goes.

Peg

WayneGM Thanks, sorry I forgot a few details. As far as I know I'm having valve replacement with a St Judes. If the cath shows artery problems they said there may be some bypass with it. Hope not!

Welcome again, Peg. I put you on the calendar for the 15th and I am sure many will come along to send you prayers and best wishes.

I wish you the best, Peg! It's no fun but you'll be on the other side of the mountain in no time. My prayers are with you.

Maybe at some point I'll get technology figured out and not send messages twice.

Peg,

You just brought back an all too vivid memory...

Here it is...

I had just completed my interivew with Dr. Vaughn Starnes at USC Medical Center.

Even though I was interviewing other surgeons, my gut told me he would be the one to perform my Ross Procedure.

After we shook hands and Dr. Starnes left the room, my dad looked at me and said, "Well... Whadayathink?"

I said, "That's the guy. That really is the guy. Let's book it."

We walked out of the examination room together, along with my brother.

Moments later, we were talking with the scheduling coordinator.

She looked at me and said, "Okay... Let's see know Adam... How about next Friday?"

GULP!

DOUBLE GULP!

TRIPLE GULP!

I mumbled something like, "Ummm... Well... Umm.... Well...."

As I wasn't her first patient to be vocally crippled from the fear, the coordinator understood and said, "Adam. Here is my number. Just call me when you are ready to select a date for your operation."

Unbelievable to think that was over 16 months ago and I'm just getting back from a great day of work and swim at the gym. :)

Anyways, sorry for rambling. Congrats on getting a date!

Cheers,

Adam

Thanks for all the support. I know it would have been much more difficult without it. I'll let you know when I get home.
