It's a very touchy subject right now. He seems to be having some sort of problem with it. We go to the Doc Monday morning to find out what might be wrong.

Yikes ... that doesn't sound good :(.

Thoughts/prayers coming to you and Chris, Ross....

He needs physical therapy and since no one is getting any money, no one will touch him. We just filed for reconsideration with SS and Medicaid, but it's going to be months before they rule.

What's even worse, I got a call from the attorney handling the accident and the uninsured motorist coverage check is coming. Not enough to pay the bills, but enough to render him ineligible for SSI and Medicaid. There is nothing good about the outcome. We had no choice but to drop the lawsuit against Mr. Riley. There is simply no one to go back on and no hopes of him ever being able to pay for anything. Seems he got the car from a private owner. I think our state is going to have to mandate that a valid license be shown and proof of insurance before issuing 30 day tags.

Sorry to hear about your son's problems. I hope things start to lookup soon.

But how's your leg doing, Ross?

This is so not fair and totally sucks! Man, they waved a ton of fees for our dog at the Animal Hospital (teaching hospital) - you'd think they'd do the at least the same for a human! I am so sorry to hear this and I hope that your son somehow gets physio soon!

And what's even funnier, they are charging full prices, not what an insurance company would pay. The only option that seems plausible is to take the money, use it for living expenses and then claim bankruptcy.

Oh, Ross ... don't even know what to type, buddy.

Except, of course, that thoughts/prayers continue coming to you and your entire family. I do hope things start looking a bit brighter for you ... sooner, rather than later.

Just got back from the Ortho. Of course we got stopped on the way out about the $12,000 bill too. Chris is having pain in the foot to the point that he can't walk on it. They took xrays and don't really see anything wrong, but suspect that arthritis may be setting up in the joints. If it continues, he's supposed to have a CT scan and see Pain Management. Probably won't happen due to know one getting any money once again.

The U.S. really needs to do something about eligibility issues for people in these positions. I think it's a crock that someone has to prove they will be disabled 12 full months in order to even get state medicaid.

I have to agree with you on this one. I know the $ is needed for living expenses and Chris is not going to catch up any time soon.

Yes, for the uninsured, they charge FULL price - no discounts. Doesn't seem right to me, either. So many in this country in the same spot.
