"Everybody's looking for something" ... Eurythmics ... 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)'

Though I've always "strongly disliked" that "how do you see yourself in...." question because it can remind you of what you have not accomplished, dreams ARE how you see yourself in 5, 10, 15, 20 years....

Thus, some of my dreams:

...get married and have kids (not a chance of either thus far).

...purchase my own home in the outskirts of town (or country ... or small town) with a huge garage.

...add a 1975 Caprice Classic convertible and a 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe to my auto collection.

...host a "permanent" radio show.

..."retire" ... so I can have time to more-fully enjoy things, such as the nice weather we've had in Chicagoland the last 2 weekends.

...travel and meet people, even more so than I do now....

...among others....

Even with all of those unrealized dreams to date, I _am_ happy. Thus, the "yes" answer to if I am where I thought I'd be at this point in life...

...have relatively-good health (more or less).

...have 5 Monte Carlos.

...have a job I like (even though it is not completely in my field of interest/expertise).

...have time and money to travel ... if only a fraction of what I'd like.

...have family/friends all over the US, who I see when I travel.

...have done a radio show each of the last 2 Aprils ... hoping to make it a more permanent thing, if I can get sponsors.

...among others....

So ... how about you? How'd you answer the "are you where you'd thought you'd be at this age?" / "what are your dreams?" question tandem?

Another cool thread:cool: I would say I am exactly where I want to be and where I always dreamed I would be. I have a wonderful husband and two great kids ages 9 and 5. I really enjoy my preschool teaching job and I have a lot of good friends. I feel very blessed and grateful to God! Not to say it is been total smooth sailing...my stepdad passed away from leukemia this year-we miss him terribly. My dad died from heart disease at age 50. My mom is doing okay but is lonely. Health wise she is doing okay, and I am thankful for that, but she has been sick for many years.
Dreams wise...I would love to travel to a million different places...I absolutely love to travel. I really want to see Australia someday...and go to all 50 states. I would love a convertible to cruise around in... Deb

My dream is to go to Disneyland Florida, been to the one in Paris but would love to go to Florida, maybe one day when Curtis is well enough to fly. I'm just a big kid at heart:D

I am not where I expected to be but I am happy where I am.

My dream - to sell everything and travel the country in an RV.

Disney World was just grand...

My wife and I took our son down this year. On his 7th birthday he got a Mickey Mouse in the Sorcerer's Apprentice outfit that talks and a card signed by Mickey and Minnie saying they couldn't wait to see him at Disney. He didn't know we would be flying down the next day and it took him a few moments to piece all of that together...

We did an all inclusive package, meals and a 6 night stay at one of the Disney resorts which also included a personal itinerary planner, tickets for a number of shows including Cirque du Solei, spa treatments, and a VERY fancy dinner for two (our son went to a child care place and had a blast playing video games and eating pizza.)

It was expensive, nearly $9,000 U.S. total for two adults and a child (that included the airfare,) but I couldn't see doing that kind of a trip any other way.

My wife has a disability (she uses a walker most of the time to move around but we also had her chair for all the parks) and we wanted to be sure we didn't have any difficulties getting around and seeing what we wanted to see.

Disney does a LOT to accomidate people with special needs, all kinds of stuff. We met a family who had a personal assistant from Disney with them. All three members of the family, son, daughter, and mom had a rare birth defect/deformity. The son (the youngest as well) was confined to a chair and the personal assistant was along to help mom handle both kids and ensure they had a good time.

If you ever get the opportunity, take it. Kids would enjoy it even into their teens. My wife and I had a blast.

Thanks for the info Harpoon, my son can't fly for more than 5 hours probably less now his pressures are up. We will definatly get to go someday. We may be able to go through a charity through the hospital and it will be free:) :D

during my lifetime I have seen WWII, all the developments since then. It is mindboggling that there have been so many things invented and my generation has lived to see and use them. There isn't much more I want to do that I have not already done.

There is that one thing. I have not read all the books yet. I am working hard on it, however.

Growing up all I wanted to do was get married and have kids :) And I've been happily married for nearly 18 years and have a beautiful 15 year old daughter!!! From here on in I'd like to at least make 40 and then I'd like to live to see my grandchildren!!! :D I'm extremely grateful to God for how happy my life has been thus far

Oh and Deb - Australia is a great place to visit - if you ever come to Melbourne I'd love to catch up!! :)

This coming June will be 30 years since I graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria, Illinois. At that time, I would have never imagined all of the many blessings I have received. Nor would I have guessed the various difficuities and challenges along the way. However, for the remainder of my days on earth, I pray that I will be a good steward of God has given me and to be able to continue to trust in Him in the future challenges. This helps me to look forward to my next life in heaven.

I remember one evening, soon after Gram and Gramps first moved out to the assisted-living facility in Mt Morris IL in 2001 ... just before 9/11, Gram talking about all of the changes she had witnessed first-hand over the course of her lifetime. It was, indeed, mind boggling ... for her AND for me!

And, Karl ... Peoria IL, eh? Cool :).

Cort,

We lived in Streamwood for three years before moving to Peoria in 67.

Oh cool ... not that far from Elgin at all, then!

Heh ... depending on how long it has been since you've been back to town, you may NOT recognize the area ;).
