Well this time last year I wasnt doing too well at all...in-fact they didnt even know if I would make it...I was making my surgeon and 8 other surgeons use all their tricks to get me going again., after 3 Cardiac arrests and a second emergency surgery for a by-pass to get my heart working properly I finally emerged out of the OR after 10 hours OHS.... they had me in a coma and on ice for 3-4 days while they waited to see what degree of mental damage I had suffered....

Of course it all ended happily and I went home on day 11 and havent looked back since except for a tiny problem when I had to have a blood transfusion to boost up my iron supplies.

Its really marvellous how well this human body repaired itself and how quickly I adjusted to the new valve. Everyday is a gift.

I want to thank everyone here who said prayers for me last year when things were not looking so great and for continuing to support me through those tricky early days & weeks.

A special big thankyou to my hero Ross I love you man! and my surgery-sister Marguerite who had a much easier time in hospital than I did.

....and to all the new members take heart in knowing that even if it looks really bad there is still hope that it will turn out perfectly alright in the end.

VR.Com RULES! I could never have made it through so easily without your ongoing support and love.

Hi Tonia!!

Congratulations on one year!! You had your surgery soon after I joined VR.Com and as a fellow Aussie I monitored your progress with extreme interest. I still remember how on edge we all were after we heard there were initial problems and how we prayed so much that you would be OK. It's wonderful to hear that the year since then has been great and that you are really feeling on top of things now. Keep it up!! And may you have many more happy and successful years ahead :)

Hi there, soo happy to see that you are feeling really well after all you have been through. I can certainly feel your ''happiness and relief'' in your post. I wish you continued good health. Best Wishes.

G'day mate, I am so pleased that things have kept on improving for you after such a difficult initiation to the other side of the mountain. I hear some people who reach middle age without those kind of herdles bemoaning the fact that they are now another year older instead of celebrating the gift of another year in this world with family and friends. Best wishes for continuing improvement.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Chris

Ton, wishing you a very HAPPY 1st Anniversary. A year has gone quickly. You had us so worried - but you pulled through to continue to entertain us and brighten our days. Best wishes for many many many more happy anniversaries.

Wow, what a story! I'm so glad everything is going well, now. Congratulations and I wish you many many more!!:) :) :) :)

way to go

way to go

Your story is such an encouragement. Way to go and way to have a great attitude. I agree with Aussie Chris living each day as a celebration makes all the difference. I am still struggling with small issues here and there but looking to each day as a gift from God keeps the spirits up and I think it even helps the body as well:) .

Congratulations on your first anniversary. Many there be many many more. Glad to hear you are doing so well after such a bumpy start. Your certainly an inspiration for those in the waiting room. Wishing you continued success.

Woo hoo!! We're here! For so long I felt as if we were holding hands across the Pacific Ocean. Then you tried to let go!! Nasty girl, causing all that drama! We were all so worried!!! But you pulled through it all with shining stars and a new dancing heart. You are one brave, stubborn, all-about-love kind of woman. Great job!!!

Congratulations on a year well lived. Wishing you many, many more!

Love and hugs,

Marguerite

I'm sorry you had such mental damage inflicted. I didn't mean to do it. I'm just being me and sometimes I make people mental. :( :D

I have pics of you that still bring tears to my eyes. deja vu for me.

Congratulations my dear sweet friend.

Tonia,
I'm so glad to hear your 1st year went so well...especially after the time you had with the surgery. Congratulations.

Me too Ross...
I look at those photos and read the thread that we printed off every now and then to remind myself how close I was to crossing-over and how far I have come...It didnt look too good for a few days. That folder of memories helps me keep-it-real. It reminds me whats really important

Thanks so much for all the encouraging words friends...no wonder I am addicted to this joint!:D

I still remember well, getting up in the middle of the night here and having an overwhelming sense of something going radically wrong with you and praying for you at that time. Just so much of what happpened with you, brought back some haunting memories of my own.

we get a few miracles in here; yours was one of them. We were really on our knees with requests and then with thanks. I am so happy you have had such a wonderful year of good health. Makes us know what life really is all about. Blessins..........

CONGRATULATIONS on your 1-year ANNIVERSARY :).

Hope you celebrated in style ;).
