Well, my a-fib has gone nowhere and the Amioderone has done nothing so at my cardio visit yesterday we decided to proceed with cardioversion this coming Tuesday. I've been on coumadin for the requisite time.

I've read it's a relatively simple safe procedure but I'm still pretty nervous about it. I do, however, very badly want to be rid of this dreaded a-fib.

Anyway, wish me luck, or at least wish me normal sinus rhythm.

Thanks,
Ruth

We will be thinking of you on Tuesday, Ruth. Hope this does the trick and you can continue on with an uneventful recovery. I'm sure those who have a cardioversion will be along to add support.

I was scheduled for a cardioversion after my last OHS but the a-fib went away a couple of days before. I wish you the same luck but will be thinking of and praying for you if you do have to go through with it.

It is fairly common so try not to worry (yeah, easy for me to say).;) :D

All the best for an easy time.

Oh, Ruth! Good luck, good luck! I'm sure you are getting very tired of all this drama! The day will come when you have found the path to normal. Honest. It will come. Hang in there.

Best wishes! Marguerite

Ruth,

GOOD LUCK!

Thoughts/prayers coming your way....

Ruth,

Wishing For NSR For You On Tuesday....I Too Had To Be Cardioverted One Week After My AVR....We'll Watch For "The Flickering Of The Lights" On Tuesday.....All Will Be Well...Thinking Of You :D

it is a simple procedure. They give you something, zap you with the paddles and it's over. I went with my brother when his was done. It was an outpatient procedure and he was awake soon after it was over and no after effects except a bit of a 'sunburn' on his chest. He had not had any heart surgery, but did have a-fib.

wishing you a relaxing time and that you'll be right home in a short. Blessins........

Ruth,
My sister has had it done more than once and didn't remember it afterward. I will be thinking of you on Tuesday.

i will be thinking of you on Tuesday and wishing you normal sinus rhythm!:) Don't worry about the actual procedure. As everyone said, it's nothing.

Ruth,

Wishing you well!! It's not bad at all. If I had to do it again I think my stress level would be about .00046. The only draw back I had was it took forever for the hair to grow back on my chest.......I guess that is not a big issue with you...................:p

Prayers to you,

Tom

Make sure they "GIVE YOU SOMETHING" before they do it (i.e., Versed or some other amnesia inducing medicine).

When I was cardioverted, they used Adenosine, and they DIDN'T give me something. It was a really crappy, painful experience to feel my heart going into arrest, seeing the monitor flat line, and watch everyone stand around with bated breath as they waited for it to start up again.

The good news is, it started up again. :D

But it isn't worth watching first-hand. Make sure they give you something.

Hi Ruth:

Here's wishing you good luck AND a normal sinus rhythm on Tuesday. I will definitely be praying for you! Don't beat yourself up about being nervous - I'm sure there are not many of us out here that wouldn't be!

Ruth - I'll be thinking of you. I hope this does the trick! Best wishes.

We will be thinking about you and praying for you on Tuesday, as you undergo the Cardioversion. Best wishes for a successful procedure and a return to your normal heart rhythm.

Stay strong!

Here's hoping for both a NSR and a cardioversion that you didn't even know that you had!

Good luck!

Ruth...I'll be thinking of you! My dad had this done when he was 82 and it all worked good and he was fine :) He's still kickin' at 85!!!
