Not me..Hubby today....I went for my regular cleaning today..Did the 500mg x4 of Amoxicillin..1 hour prior...Hubby had not been in for a cleaning in a long time..so I made him go, too.He has upper dentures..but when the dentist took one look at the 7 bottom teeth he had left..and showed me..I thought i would faint..The front 4 looked awful....so dentist talked to us both and said, they all need to come out..so we decided since we were there. let's do it now......Poor thing..I got him home..packed..but he took the packing out and tried to eat some soup..Dentist wanted him to have something in his stomach before he started the Amox..2 now and 1 every 8 hours. also..percocet every 6 hours for pain..( I halved it)..We are having a hard time with food.:( He is so hungry..Getting some split/pea down now.He has stiches and I am sure the pain will come soon.. ...Dentist wants him to try to go at least a month before he comes back for impressions for new dentures........I know the pain pills may make his nauseious..Maybe the soup he is eating now will help......Everyone..take care of your teeth..Dentist said, mine looked great..he does not take me off my warfarin.. Have to go back for a crown on the 19th..Didn't mention me coming off my warfarin. Great dentist.:D He told Hubby there are many things that he could end up with health-wise if he didn't get them out. Number 1 heart problems..and Hubby has not been feeling all that good the last 6 months. Dentist said, he will notice a difference..in his feeling better.:) Bonnie

I feel for him. Get him some Dickel woman! My God, the man is in pain!

Percocet isn't going to sit to well in his stomach, so try to keep something in him at all times.

So sorry to read this Bonnie, but glad you got him to go with you. When my sister had a number of teeth pulled her dentist put a temporary plate in immediately after the surgery and she just had to go and get it adjusted every few days until the permanent one was ready, but I imagine since this was spur of the moment, and no previous impressions taken, that wasn't possible. Hope he can get some food down- how about a milkshake??

Hubby is a man that will not even take a tylenol for pain..so when he asked me 30 minutes ago to give him the other 1/2 percocet..I KNEW he was in pain.....Made him go get in bed. I think he has enough soup in him for awhile....Next pain pill will be due at 11 P.M. will try another 1/2..percocet..Until morning when I can get some more food in his stomach..I know..which is worse pain or throwing up?............Bonnie

John's teeth were so bad..Dentist had to pull up some gum..stitch it..just to get an even place..so in a month..he will be able to make an impression.then dentures........I'm sure why he is in so much pain tonight. The stiches are what are bothering him so much..so it's going to be a long few days..for a man who is used to working outside, ect. how do I keep him down?Give him the percocet every 6 hours?:D .............B/T/W..would rather have Grandkids sick than a Hubby.:p I am sure I will be at his beckon call for many days.:D Bonnie

Give John alot of pain medication, that will keep him settled down in one place for awhile!:p :D :D
Seriously, tell him I'm sorry he's having pain. I hope it's better by this time tomorrow night.
Just now seeing this; we've been to see Wild Hogs.

Hon, Percocet doesn't work well giving only half the tablet. Make him take a whole one. I know it leaves my stomach feeling as though something is in there that shouldn't be, but I've never thrown up from it yet. The directions on the bottle should say take one tablet every 4 to 6 hours for pain.

Bonnie, just want to add my well wishes for your husband. He definitely needs the Percocet, but that is a little rough if you can't eat properly. Hope he's able to balance that out. I feel for him.

I had 4 removed last year front lower center. There was time for prep ahead. all but 2 of my other lowers are caps so a bridge was made and when it was ready I went in, the dentist took out the 4, did a bit of stitching, inserted the bridge, told me not to take it out til I went back to him in 4 days. gave me rx for pain, told me wet tea bags will stem blood flow if needed, ice for swelling, call him if needed. he said take a pain pill when I got home - I did even tho no pain (DarvocetN) and went to sleep. I was sick when I woke up - from that pill. I ate really mushy stuff you don't have to chew (gruel types that I could add bread to and let it soften and mix and kinda melt in my mouth). No straws, you know - causes bleeding. He also said to rinse in a day or so with warm salty water which helps heal. It all worked out and now I have nice lower front teeth, as John will. But you must be the mommy for awhile. Blessins to you both...........

Thanks all...

Thanks all...

John is doing well today..I gave him a 1/2 percocet at midnight and he has not asked for another..:) I made him oatmeal, applesauce at 9 a./m...to take his amox. with....and all day long. just mushy mashed potatoes soup..(mash the veggies good).scrabled eggs..the big problem..Boredom..:D Beautiful day outside..warm and he did work on some model airplanes, read the weekly paper..some old western movies..now, he is just walking around house.....The worse thing..hubby is a meat man.. He has never gone for soup, ect. Wants that heavy stuff.....and I know..that will be at least another week. ..He is doing the warm water/salt..rinsing........He has a nice blue chin...:D Need to make a picture with his upper dentures out and send to the National enquirer for the Ugly Mug contest..:p ..but I love him anyways..:D After 40 years..for better or worse.:) I am sure he will be back to his good looks in a few weeks. Ann (hensylee)..Can I send him down to you for a week?:p Bonnie

Glad John is doing well, Bonnie. I'll make a swap with you- Dick has spent the last eight hours trying to change the disposal and electric switch in the kitchen to one of those that is shock proof- an electrician he is NOT! I think it is finally successful- the worst part is he likes an assistant and you know who that is!:( It will be 42 years for us this month, so I guess I will have to keep him too. You better buy a big steak for John when he is finally able to eat one!

Oh, yes..we have built 2 homes and remodeled this last one. so I have always been the Dummy (Assistant):D ......I know one thing..it is better to cook large meals than try to read the small print on these packages/boxes..I am fixing him. I am now cooking him a Kid's macaroni and cheese(kraft)..boiling the water and reading the small print of what else to do? adding margarine/milk....and he is sitting back in den watching the T.V. and says the commercials are making him hungry:p My Grandchildren are old enough to eat what we do..Hate this package/box food. Bonnie

oh, yes, Bonnie, I'll take him. Only thing is, he'd have to stay a good while because we have handy man stuff to do. We need an occasional man about the house, but not for keeps.
