I came across this on one of the chatboards on a teacher's site. I thought some of you would appreciate this. It sure hits home for me right now.

Attitude

There once was a woman who woke up one morning,
Looked in the mirror,
And noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today?"
So she did
And
She
Had
A
Wonderful
Day.

The next day she woke up,
Looked in the mirror
And saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

"H-M-M," she said,
"I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?"
So she did
And
She
Had
A
Grand
Day.

The next day she woke up,
Looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one
hair on her head.

"Well," she said,
"today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."
So she did
And
She
Had
A
Fun,
Fun
Day.

The next day she woke up ,
Looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a
single hair on her head.

"YEA!" she exclaimed,
"I don't have to fix my hair today!"

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary,

For everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly.......

Leave the rest to God

Back when I couldn't gain weight no matter how I tried, I used to think badly of those who were grossly overweight (okay, okay - I was young and not mature). Then, after my first OHS, I was put on a year-long regimen of prednisone to deal with a problem. I gained that weight I always wanted and way more. I hated to look at myself in the mirror.

Needless to say, I never criticized anyone again. I learned that you never know what someone else is dealing with since we do not wear signs.

Another quick story - after my second OHS, the hospital I was at automatically provided psychiatric counseling to major surgery survivors for the first few days (or longer if needed). I was still in OH recovery when I met my psychiatrist. He came in and asked how I was doing. I told him I had awakened from surgery so everything was great. I never saw him again. I guess my attitude either impressed him or scared him away.;) :D

Everything is truly in the eye of the beholder.

Praline,

How great of you to take the time out to remind us of this when you are facing so many challenges.

Thank you so very much.

Praline,

Thank you for sharing this thought concerning the importance of attitude. Your example over the past year-plus has touched more than you know. I'm sure all of us felt you had had your "turn," and then some, before the illness of your husband. "Leave the rest to God" may seem a bit of a "last thing" approach to problems. But it's not. It's the most important, and really the only, thing that we can do.

Know that there are many who wish you and your husband love, peace, and comfort. :)

It's a keeper. I know I try real hard to be like that and often feel opposite. Your having challenges left and right just like we do, so I know how tough it is.

Hi Praline,

Those are beautiful thoughts....certainly worth striving for.

Just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you and holding you in the "light".

Praline,

Like the others before me have said, thank you so much for sharing such an inspirational reminder that a positive mental attitude is what we all need to deal with whatever comes our way. Not always easy to do but nonetheless an excellent reminder. I plan to share this with my on-line buddy list.

I'd also like to say thanks for thinking of us when you have so much on your plate. Positive thoughts for you and your husband are coming your way as always.

Take Care!
Susie

Praline. That was a wonderful thing to share. Thank you. It practically brough tears to my eyes. The human spirit is often tested to the max and reaching for the silver lining is the best defense.

Wishing you fewer days where you need to reach for that silver lining.
