Here is an update on my husband.

Things are about the same.. some pretty good days and some bad days. The lung cancer has spread more to the ribs. A couple of weeks ago he had some more radiation treatments.

We had a nice Christmas. My sister was visiting from out of town. Too bad she had to stay in a motel because we have dogs and she is allergic...We had to eat Christmas dinner out.We ended up going to Boomtown Casino and had a wonderful time. My husband was feeling well enough to enjoy the outing. No gambling though,:) neither of us are gamblers. We both came home for a nap and my sister and her husband went back to feed money in the one arm bandit.;)

The day after Christmas, we went to the hospital for his chemo treatment. We ended up being there from about 8:30 in the morning to 5:15 P.M. His blood count was very low so he was given a unit of blood. That takes SO long. A couple of weeks ago he was admitted to the hospital, kept over night, and given 3 units of blood. His white blood cell count had been so high and he was running a pretty high temperature. But last week white blood cell count finally went down to almost normal. So they were able to resume
chemo. They have no idea why it went up so high or why it came back down.

So now his temperature is back to normal. But he is in a lot of pain today, even with mega doses of pain meds.He was also sick to his stomach today..that happens after chemo. He is losing so much weight...since last summer he has lost 50 pounds. He went from around 200 pounds to now around 150. He is about 6 feet tall.

Last year at this time it was me looking at open heart surgery. Now it is my husband... and much more sick than that.

We appreciate all the prayers from everyone. We are trying to take it one day at a time. I am still able to work which is good because we need the money for bills, living expenses, and also meds.

Thanks for the update, Praline. What a hard time it must be for you and your husband. Is he on oxygen 24/7 now? I know when my dad was put on it it not only made him less SOB but also reduced his pain as well. I hope he gets good results from his cancer treatments and that his pain also lessens.

How are you doing through all this? Love and hugs to you and many prayers as well.

Thanks for taking time to update, Praline. I am so glad that you both were able to enjoy Christmas with your family. Thinking of you both and sending prayers and best wishes your way.

Praline, I am so sorry for you both are suffering. I have been right where you are and it is so hard. I pray that God will grant you both the strength and blessings you need for this ordeal.

Wishing a better 2007 for you and your husband. I hope they can find something to ease his pain!

This is such a hard time for you both. Seeing someone you love having pain and enormous problems is very difficult.

Take this bittersweet time in your lives to express your love for each other.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Praline,
So glad to hear that you had a good Christmas Day with your husband and sister. Sorry to hear though that your husband is dealing with so much especially the pain. You both will continue to stay in my prayers and thoughts.

Godspeed!
Susie

P.S. I'd also like to send you a BIG HUG just because.....

Praline -

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you struggle with your husband's cancer. I have such empathy for you, as we went through breast cancer with my Mom. It is such an emotionally charged and difficult (to say the least) time. I remember advice our family was given, to talk -say the things that you want to say so there would be no regrets.

I think it sounds as if you know this, Praline - as you are living one day at a time which is ALL a person can do - live and love one day at a time. I am very sad for you to be going through this. Your husband sounds as if he is being very brave along with you. Bless his heart.

May God give you all strength for the day and cover you with His love.

Wise words.

And napping is good, and in many ways, and much cheaper than gambling!

Sorry you and your husband are going through such difficult times, Praline.

Praline,

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's continuing battle with pain.....I really hope that there is something that can be done to help with that.

I'm glad that you were able to have a nice Christmas. Here's hoping you can find other weekends, days etc. where you can both have a good time together.

I am keeping you both in my thoughts and "holding you in the Light".

Praline,

Dealing with one health issue in a family is a BIG challenge. Facing two major issues is beyond our imagination.

May God grant you strength, comfort, and medical attention for your husband.

Enjoy New Year's together. We pray for a better 2007.
