Hi EVeryone,

I am back at work, and it is crazy. WIsh I was still there in Austria. We had a wonderful time in the town and in the Alps at Hintertux, Austria. We took voer 611 pictures, and have much to share, and will along the weeks as I have time.

Here are 3 that we took Christmas weekend. I think I have to post them on seperate postings... so here goes...

Happy New Year Everyone...

Rob

the third one..

the third one..

This is one of Cristi and I at the top of the glacier, 3,260 meters

That is alot of snow!
Thanks for posting the pictures, Rob, and have a Happy New Year!

Every time you post pictures and tell us about over there, it's like getting a pretty present to open. I loved them all. The sky in the first one looks like the sky is wavy, like water. Are those clouds? What beauty there is there. The one of the two of you in silhouette is so pretty, too. Thank you for sharing.

What did you have for Christmas dinner?

Is that a beer in your hand???? DROOL My eyes went right to that! :D

And, the alps look good too! Hee, hee!

Thanx for sharing....beautiful pics!!

Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing them!

My husband and I were in Vienna this summer and we traveled south one day to a cog train called the Schneeburg out of Puchberg (don't know if I'm spelling those right) that traveled south and up toward the Alps. It was a hazy day when we went, horrendously hot in Vienna but a cool relief in that part of the Alps, and our pictures across some huge valley aren't extremely clear but what an experience! The mountains -- Colorado Rockies, Swiss Alps, etc. -- are always my favorite travels!

In what part of Austria is Hintertux? Our trip was great but we were there during that awful heat wave late in July. Was your weather nice? One other frustration for me was that I sent about 40 postcards out from Austria and only one that I know of actually reached its destination. Did you send out postcards and did they reach their destinations?

Hi,

The weather while we were in Austria was fantastic, bright and sunny. Tat is why the pictures of the alps came out so good. The valley however, had very little snow. It is unusual for there to be so little snow in the valley at this time of year. In fact, many of the ski lifts in the valley were closed. We were further up into the alps, closer to the glacier, which did have plenty of snow.
Ann.. The hotel featured a very special Chrismas dinner with 7 courses! We kept a copy of the menu, but I do not have it with me here at work. I do recall that we had goose liver patee, pheasant soup, tuna and shrimp, filet and rabbit, and fabulous deserts. It was a very tradiional Austrian cooked meal.

After dinner the hotel owner and his wife read Christmas stories to the guests. She read, while he lit sparklers that were hanging from the Christmas tree. ( I have never seen that before.. think in the states that would be considered a fire hazard)... but.. the tree was very very fresh cut.

Lynn.. Yup that was a German WeisBier! yum... one of many!

On Christmas day, Cristi and I went up one of the alps to an Austrian type restaurant and pub. We had a few beers and Gluwine, then we rented a sleds to travel down the 8 km trail to the base of the mountain.

I'll see if I can find some other pictures o send later. We took many of the Christmas Market in Nuermberg, on our way to Austria.

Guten Morgen,
Rob

Oh, my. I can't even imagine all that. No wonder they are sturdy people. Sounds wonderful and like it's from a whole other world than what we know. Wow.
