My trusty Coaguchek S stopped working two weeks ago and I now have the XS model.

When it arrived I could hardly believe how small it is. Case, monitor, strips and softclix are the size of a large pocket book.

Readings seem a little low but it's easy to use.

The biggest problem so far is getting a strip from the container. So far so good.

Does anyone else have one?

Hi Lance,

Happy you like the unit. Curious. Are you able to get supplies for your unit? Here in the US.....we are on a holding pattern. Test strips are not available because of a mandatory recall. I have the original model. XS uses a different type of strip. XS is also not available to patients in the US. Though I hear we are moving towards a release. In the meantime....along with many others.....have decided not to wait on Roche and purchase a INratio.

PS. Can you explain what you mean by your low readings? Do you believe your INR is low. Or is the unit off?

Mandatory strip recall?

Mandatory strip recall?

Two weeks ago I had a new box of strips for my S and had do to the chemical controls. Fluid was not going up the neck on the strip and the light under the blood target area was not lit.

So I contacted Roche for an explanation and unfortunately my moitor was broken and has been replaced with the "XS" model. So I don't need the strips anymore.

To-day I received the "Urgent Product Notification" about the 10 out of a million chance of error because of insufficient amount of thromboplastin on the strip.

They advised to perform 2 tests with strips from different batches so I assume strips for the "S" are still available. OR discard all strips and contact health care official.

When I mentioned low I should have said slow (I've only tested 3x).

Anyway I hope your are more than happy with your new machine.

CoaguChek xs

CoaguChek xs

I have just received my Coagucheck xs, and after testing twice over two weeks, I think it is brilliant. Its easy to use, the monitor fits in the palm of your hand and the complete kit fits in neat little travel pack about the size of a diary.
It comes with excellent operating instructions and a DVD which I had no problem with, so it must be idiot proof.
One drop of blood and an INR reading in one minute. Makes me wonder why I put up with ham fisted blood gatherers, leaving me either bruised or bleeding, for the last six years.:)

Congratulations on beginning home testing! It really is a godsend, isn't it! The XS sounds terrific.

Glad you like your XS

Glad you like your XS

Glad to learn you're happy with your XS. It's so small by comparison to the S at first I thought it was a toy.

Until I had to carry my S through Gatwick airport a couple of times I didn't think it was heavy. Another plus for the XS--lightness.

Do you drop your blood into the strip or do you press the strip to the blood--inquiring minds need to know.

After six years of venous jabs your veins must be scarred. Mine healed beautifully over the past 4 years I have home tested and should I need a vein jab it no longer feels as though they're injecting acid.

Hopefully the recall of the S strips will be straightened up for the user's of the S.

Cheers!

We have one. Bought directly from Roche - strips too.

I test Amelia's INR weekly using Coaguchek XS. We like it because it's small and I suspect it more acurate than the lab test.

Lab test it usually 0.3 - 0.5 higher than what our coagucheck xs machine reports. Just last week I tested Amelia 1.5 two times! and we rushed down to the hospital for the lab test. After lots of crying, kicking and waiting for almost 2 hours, her INR from the lab test showed 1.85.

Her card immediately up her warfarin. Could hv upped her warfarin myself but it is such in Singapore - better to listen to the people with "licence". hehehe

Anyway, our card is mostly in-syn with us so we are pretty ok with him.

My only complain is the cost of the test strips - SGD$10.5 per test strip. And sometimes I need to test more than once a week esp when she is sick or not eating :(

cheers
Dawn
