I have not been here hardly at all for a good while. I have been so busy.

I am one month away from the one year anniversary of my joining this group. I look at November 4th, 2006, as the day I got old. I was almost 65, had never been hospitalized except for kidney surgery in all my life..felt pretty lucky to have survived Katrina with only minor damage to my home and losing my school...then I found out I needed OHS. I found this place and a good thing because I was petrified. I will always be thankful for you all..you helped me get through this OHS and remain sane.

I had OHS in January 2006, had a good recovery. I thought I was back on easy street when my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer this past summer. While we were battling his cancer, I lost one of my brothers to a heart attack this past September...2006 has not been my year.

My husband has been through radiation and they started chemo ...then his white blood cells count went way up.Last week they did another CATscan and found a new tumor in his ribs. So back to radiation. They cannot figure out why he spikes a fever at the drop of a hat and his white blood cell count is up to 42,000. Normal is between 8,00 -12,000. They said chemo could cause an elevation in white blood cells but that he has not had enough chemo to cause that... It could also be caused by a severe infection but lab work shows no infection. This past Friday they did a bone marrow biopsy..they suspect leukemia.
A few minutes ago, I took his temperature and it was 101.5. He took 2 Advil and in about 45 minutes he will break out in a sweat and then his temperature will be normal.

To top things off, I fell last Tuesday, slipped on a wet floor. My right butt is all swollen and black and blue all the way down to below my knee. It is SO sore and all this driving is making it it hurt more.

As you can see, we need all the prayers we can get.

You got some coming from AZ. It seems it never rains but always pours. Although it is really hard for you right now, try your best to keep a positive attitute that will help you get through all of this.

Hon I wish I had all the answers. I'm going through tough times myself and it just doesn't get any easier, simply more gets added on. I'll keep praying for you both. Hopefully the tide will turn in your favor. I'm ever hopeful that it will for me too.

Dear Praline,
I have wondered how you and your husband were doing. I'm so sorry to hear that he is having such a difficult time battling his cancer. And you have not had an easy time yourself. I can't imagine what you are going through - all I know is that life is just so unfair sometimes. I will definitely keep you both in my prayers. Please keep a stiff upper lip if you can.
Godspeed!
Susie

Praline,

I have always tried to believe that God doesn't give us more than we can handle but sometimes it is really hard to follow through on that belief.

I will pray for you, your husband and your family that you come through all this healthy and happy.

You have always been upbeat so try to find that quality and you will find the strength to get through.

Praline, my heart and prayers go out to you and your husband. I hope that you can derive some support and strength from your friends here at VR.com. We are always here for you to vent. Godspeed!

Praline -

Very sorry and truly hoping the doctors will have some answers and good results for your husband and you. Deepest sympathies regarding your brother also.
