Nancy and Joe
Prayers went up in PA for you this morning!:)

"I guess I'm a little gunshy for him for any procedure. So please keep him in mind."

I understand perfectly that statement. You always have the support and prayers of all of us. I will continue keeping you and your dear husband in my special prayers every day.

hi nancy,
just wanted to let you know that i can't blame you for feeling gunshy about joe and that we are thinking of you both and praying for only good, smooth outcomes.
please be sure to let us know how things go, ok?
all the best, sylvia

Prayers from TN - uneventful, successful procedure - health and rest to you both!!
{{{hugs}}}

Nancy. You and Joe will be in my thoughts tomorrow. Wishing him a smooth and quick procedure with NO complications!!

Best wishes. Marguerite

Hi Nancy

Will definitely put you both in the prayer book for tomorrow and beyond, if needed...... I'm always thinking of you both......

Sorry I'm late in reading this. You of course have all my good thoughts & prayers - Joe must be a tough old bird. You're - of course - a tender young one :p .

All went very well. The surgery got off a little late, but it went well, took about an hour or so, and the anesthesiologist said he wanted to keep things simple for Joe (bless him), so he went with IV sedation and a local. No pain during, some soreness now, but that's to be expected. Pain pills will take care of that.

And, he is home now, and getting ready to eat dinner.:)

Glad the procedure went well Nancy. Give Joe our greetings. Will keep both of you in our daily concerns!!!

Great news! The best part is that he is back home. There are just too many bugs in the hospital that Joe needs to keep at a distance. The fistula will really simplify his dialysis. Some doctors permit blood drawing from the fistula as well but it used to be reserved only for dialysis. Have you been given any information on how the site can be used yet? I hope this is one medical episode for the two of you that passes with no hitches at all. You are both in my prayers daily.

Betty, the only instructions we have now are that this arm can NEVER again have a BP cuff or IV site. I am not sure about injections or things like finger sticks. Joe has an early Dec. appt. with the vascular surgeon and I guess he will put a finer point on things.

They gave Joe a little "squeezee" toy car to use. He has to develop that fistula by exercising it every 20 minutes for 3 months:p :p We'll see how THAT goes. I can hear myself now being a big badger (think big B).

It has to develop into a huge tough vessel.

So glad thing went well for Joe today Nancy. Were you at St. Peter's? I was there this morning but didn't see this thread until this evening.

Joe's going to be quite a hunk after all that "pumping plastic" he'll be doing for the next few months! :D

So glad to have this behind you!:)
Now just relax and enjoy the weekend.. and tell him to get busy with that squeezy toy!:p
