Well, at 58 I can't be one sore puppy any more can I?
I ran a 15k race in Schenectady, NY today (Nov 12). I was in no way ready to run 15k, I've had a month of highly irregular heartbeats and consequently my running mileage has been rather low, so I had to take it very easy. According to my game plan, I started last and stayed there, finishing 10 minutes slower than the last time I did this one. But I finished, which was my 23rd time at this event and the 12th since getting the aortic valve replacement 15 years ago. Meaning I've now run it more times with the valve than without.
So, now I'm sitting here, feet and legs as sore as they've ever been. If I stay put for more than 3 minutes the muscles freeze up, it takes me 20 seconds just to stand up and walk again. Tomorrow I probably won't be able to walk down the stairs but a few aches and pains are a small price to pay.
