Nan

Well, I actually now have a date for surgery...12/6 at Weill Cornell (NY Presbyterian) in NYC with Dr. Leonard Girardi. They are admitting me on 12/4 to bridge with IV Heparin (I am to stop the warfarin 3 days prior to admission...a little tight!)

He will be replacing my mitral valve and doing a by- pass on my right descending cornary artery.

He does not feel it is necessary to re-do the aortic valve which falls in the patient/prosthesis mismatch category. The gradient isn't that bad and it would be a lot for my heart.

To say that I am nervous is an understatement. I have located my Rx for Lorezepam and will probably be taking it on a regular basis until surgery is over!

Regards to everyone.

Put you on the calendar, Nan. You wouldn't be normal if you weren't nervous. Sending you our best wishes,
Phyllis

Nan, the 6th has always been a pretty good day for me - it's my birthday! So I know your surgery will go splendidly. You will be in my prayers.

Nan,
Hopefully this will soon be behind you, and you will have an outstanding Christmas and a fabulous New Year's.

Nan:
December 6th was my mother-in-law's birthday. She was a marvelous, strong woman who thought all sorts of things were possible and worked to make that belief true. Good things happen on December 6th. Wishing you the very best with your surgery. We will be thinking of you.

Hi, and thanks to you all for your words of encouragement. I guess Dec. 6th must be an auspicious day, Karlynns birthday and Blanche's mother in law's birthday! And Jeanne, Nancy, Tom and Phyllis, thanks for keeping me in our thoughts! And Mary, thanks for the hope of a happy holiday and especially a Happy New Year!

At the moment I feel like calling and cancelling the surgery, but I won't (I don't think). Don't really know how I did this the first time.

Take care everybody.

Hi Nan

You know we'll all be thinking of you up to and post op on the 6th.....Don't you dare think about canceling......you know it's the right thing to do for you, your family and most of all your health.....you will get through it and over it.

I'm putting you in my prayers right now.......

Evelyn

We know exactly how you feel...this waiting is terrible....we've been there before and we can do it again...we are hoping just to be home by Thanksgiving...and so for you our wishes are that you will definitely be home for a wonderful Christmas. God Bless!

Nan - you can do this! Be strong for the rest of us here in the "waiting room". We know how you feel but remember what has been said and you been through this before, the waiting is the hardest part. You will be in my prayers also!!
