All,

Finally after spending 9 days at the hospital I was back home on sunday. I didn't immediatly post the msg as I was too tired to sit in front of the computer. Now i'm in the recovery phase of the surgery.

So far so good. I had to spend little bit more than 3 days in ICU due to fluid all over. I didn't wakeup for a day in ICU. I don't remember much about the ICU stay.

Post ICU the stay was not that great... I was damn tired throughout. Couldn't walk for days.

Now I feel like the shoulders are like 100 pounds heavy... Is that normal?

Welcome home!

Welcome home!

Thanks for posting. Sounds like you had a rough time in the hospital. I hope that now that you are home you will start to feel better and stronger every day. You are still in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care,
Liz

Welcome home. Nothing like getting out of the hospital to lift your spirits.

Probably good you don't remember much about icu.

Shoulders heavy - you're probably deconditioned from lying in the hospital so long. Could also be the old shoulder issues from the position they put you in during surgery (they pin your arms behind you) - try having someone massage your shoulders and neck and upper back 3 times per day and see if you get some relief.

Breathe, walk and nap. Keep it boring.

Hey there:
Welcome home. Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm 33 days post op and feeling good enough to drive around and go to meetings. So...keep your chin up, you'll start feeling better sooner than you think!

Let me know if you have any questions. It's weird at first because you're so weak. It only takes a few days of literally doing nothing to lose muscle tone. I was weak as a kitten, but am bouncing back, which you will do, too.

Does sound like you had a tough time. Things should start to get boring soon. Just make sure you use your incentive spirometer, sleep when you can, eat what you can, use your pain med if you need it. Each day you will get stronger. The ICU isn't such a fun place so you didn't miss much. Good for you not to remember much. Take care.

Welcome home. Try massages and some Tylenol- that worked (a bit :D ) for Dick. Hope it's a boring and steady recovery from here on out.

Welcome Home!...
I bet it feels great to be there.

Sore shoulders...gosh I had almost forgotten about them...All my back muscles ached like mad for a while...standing under the shower was one of my favourite treats for that.

Sounds like you had a little hiccup during your stay...I did too...but am back to normal now...

Hope you are feeling better and better everyday
