We had to take Cinderto the vet today. She ate something in the yard this mornig. we were afraid she wasgoing to die because she was falling around and meowing constantly and then shecouldn't climb up onto her little cat condo or onto the sofa.

When we got to thevet's office she took one look at her and cracked up laughing. she said that Cinder had probably eaten some Polk salad and fed her a bowl milk laced with a little charcoal to prevent her bdy fromabsorbing any more poison out of the polksalad leaves. The vet also said it wouldtake a few days for the poison to completely leave her system. her eyes are still Lettitiadilated for now so she can't seevery well.

Now that's a new one on me. With those symptoms, I'd of thought antifreeze poisoning. Thank God yours is treatable.

that woulda really scared me! Polk - doesn't that look like turnip greens? I think I recall my aunt cooking it but my mother wouldn't because she said it had poison in it.

Poor Cinderto. Polk! Yuck, first of all. Secondly, didn't know it was poisonous. Now I know I was right all these years to stay away from the whole lot of "greens". ;) I'll stick to my lettuce. I hope your kitty feels better and sees better very soon.

;) Cinder is better . she is no longer stonedor seeing thingsand is back to her usual bad self. My mother the plant woman says that Polk salad is only eaable ifit is boiled anddrained three times before it is eaten. . For Cinder it was like a hallucinagen but, if she had eaten much of it it would have killed her.I'm just thankful that it didn't kill her.:)
