Hayley,
GOOD DEAL!!!!!! You are doing so good. Cigs...a year without....not so easily done! Good job with that too!!!! I wanted to tell you that your 'this ain't for whimps' was repeated over and over again in my mind when I was waiting to be taken back into surgery as well as when I was laying in ICU with that 'thing' down my throat. I remember thinking..... I ain't no whimp!:D (although the nurses in ICU might want to argue with me on that one!)
Take care and keep on keeping on!

Hayley:

Congratulations on your first anniversary! Doesn't it feel great to know you've conquered a heckuva lot of bad things and are a survivor?

Saturday was also my anniversary -- 3 years -- and I flew early that morning to St. Louis for a cat show. Young man sitting to my right is an EMT/paramedic and works in the ER at the hospital where I had my surgery. (small world!)

That night, a friend & I celebrated at a Mexican restaurant.

Every anniversary it's Memory Lane time, thinking about what I was doing 1, 2 and now 3 years ago on 6/24 and how far I've come.

Glad you've developed that perspective and have taken steps to improve your life. You are a courageous person -- just remember that whenever you think the going gets tough. If you can make it over the OHS/VR mountain and come down safely & much improved, think of all the wonderful things you can accomplish in life. :) :)

Congratulations on your anniversary! When I read your post I felt very encouraged as I'm still trying to come to grips with this ordeal, and the instant change it's made on our daily lives since I came home from surgery. After hearing your story I feel there must be light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for the inspiration.
