May be my last post in here until next week sometime. Even so, don't hesitate to post in here ... I'll get it when I get back ;).

I'm going to send you my cell ph#. Since I'm not sure if I'll be able to check online tomorrow before I leave, if you don't see me post ... CALL me. OK? If I don't answer, leave a message with you ph# ... and I'll call you back. I have Sherry's # (and she has mine), so we can figure out plans sometime over the weekend.....

Cort,
Sounds like a plan.:) :)

Ross,

I figured about as much for you; I know how leery you are of venturing too far from home, so no worries! Will you still want to meet up when I get to the Akron area?

As for your car ... sure wish I could help you out there. I know you'd probably prefer something small and economical ... which isn't really want I know of being for sale right now. The cars I can think of that would be low cost to you ... are of the 1970s variety ... he he he.

I'm game for Akron. I'm not too worried about cars. If the frame goes on this one, it goes. Shame though, best running car I've ever had and it was originally at rental vehicle. Expenses are getting so bad here that I may have to drop to one vehicle for the both of us. Everything is going up in price except income. I'm going to shoot some renters for passing the new school levy here!

Wise, I can guarantee the trip through Louisville will not be around 6pm. More likely late at night ... or early Friday morning. So, I'm sorry it won't work this time through :( ... it would've been nice to see you and your wife again.QUOTE]

Hey, no sweat. Have a great trip and we'll catch up with you again someday.

Hey Mr MC,

I got to come home for a week. I am now home, just south of Nashville. But, I leave for Germany again on Sunday the 25th.

Most likely my wife and I will be heading to the lake on Friday night and spending Friday night and Sat there. The lake is near Cookville, east of Nashville. Take about 1 hour from Nashville on I-40 E to get there.

If you are not tied up with the Nationals... then let me know, and I will give you my cell number.

Rob

Hey, Mary...

Hey, Mary...

Oh, shoot, I missed those posts about Vienna. Is that down in that general area that I met you and Dave? I could do that. What time were you all thinking about?

Sherry,
I think Vienna might be a better drive for you. I don't know what time Cort's thinking (oh Cort! what are you thinking????), but maybe he'll let us know.
My calculations say he's got at least a 3 hour drive from Jackson, but I don't know when he's leaving there.

Mary, it should work. I'll call him sometime on Sunday and see what he's thinking of timewise. Hope it works...

I'm catching up...sorta.

Ross,

That's ironic that your best-running car started as a rental ... usually, rentals are notorious for NOT lasting a long time....heh. Thoughts/prayers coming your way for things to work out for the best for you.

Wise,

Actually, we ended up coming through Louisville around lunchtime ... noon to 1pm or so.... Sorry :(.

Rob,

Very sorry I didn't see your post before I left for Nashville ... sure would've been nice to see you. Suppose I should've actually posted the location of the event (Holiday Inn Select at Goodlettsville) for people to meet up with me there, if they had wanted to do so. Our family friends from Big Sandy drove up for the afternoon ... in their "new to them" 1955 Packard :).

Sherry and Mary,

Very sorry our schedules didn't work out this time around. Mary, sure hope your car is fixed now.

Cort, we'll catch you next time, you road-trippin maniac...:D :D Remember, you always have a place to stay for the Frog Follies.

He he he.... Sounds like a plan.

BTW ... wondering how far Metropolis is for you and Mary..... At the hospital this morning waiting for them to take the 24-hr HM off, I saw a piece on TV about Metropolis IL ... the "official" home of Superman ... might be fun to meet and eat somewhere there in October.....

*grins*

Thank you :). When is FF this year?

Heh...as it turned out, I met up with some friends from Decatur IL on Thursday night in Terre Haute IN. They left Decatur about the time I arrived in Champaign IL ... and we got to the hotel about the same time. I would've beaten them there if I hadn't skipped RT 63 and gone to RT 41 (the 2-lane area) off I-74.... Heh..that was a bit of a harrowing experience ... I saw the sign for Terre Haute at RT 63, but didn't think that was the right one since I had RT 41 in my head. By the time I got to RT 41, I was at a quarter tank of gas left ... not wanting to "push it" to get back to RT 63 (after looking at the map "in horror"), I opted to get gas in Veedersburg. Wish I hadn't. The moment I stopped at the small-town gas station, I noticed a bunch of young kids (guys mostly) sitting at the attached diner. I quickly filled the car ... and got in and took off. As I started the car, the whole group came out of the building ... heading towards me. I gunned it and took off. Hindsight 20/20, I'm guessing they were just interested in the car (they didn't look threatening/menacing, really), but at that moment, I was tired, frustrated that I had "skipped" RT 63...and wanting to get back "on track" ... and thus, felt a wee bit threatened...he he he.

When we got to Terre Haute (between 1a and 2a), we all discussed going onto Evansville ... wish we had, considering the construction on RT 41 brought it from 4 lanes to 2 ... and at only 45 mph :(. Ah, well....he he he.

Cort - You were in The Haute? Where did you wind up? My daughter spent her first college year in The Haute, at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, out on Wabash. We have many friends in the area and we're quite familiar with the city. . . M. Mogger's Pub, anybody? Java Haute? For a small city, Terre Haute has quite an array of restaurants.

Mary,

Excellent news! Now, we just gotta wait for the verdict from Sherry ;).

Steve,

We ended up at the Knights Inn at RT 41 and I-70. We thought it was somewhat appropriate for the trip ;). We didn't really look around at all ... basically slept, woke up, got gas in the vehicles, and took off for Evansville (for I-64 to Louisville). Heh...but, your note proves it is a small world ;).

Hey, Cort. Sounds like quite a trip, but I think your hindsight is right. I bet those guys just wanted to check out your cool car. ;) ;)

Sounds like quite an eventful trip home, my friend...

Going through Evansville next time -- definitely the route to take. Then I'm just a hop, skip, and a jump away. It's a smooth drive up 41 for the most part. I beat that path all the time going to my parents' in Vincennes or up to Indy.

Metropolis is about two hours away, give or take. I wouldn't mind seeing it actually. There was a big spread about it this morning in the paper, corresponding with the new movie, of course.

Sherry and Cort,
They have a gambling boat that cruises the Ohio River for two hours. I've done it a few times, so we might want to keep that in mind. :)

Gambling, did I hear gambling??? Woohoo, I'm there, sister. :D :D

Several of us went and played the slots the other night at Casino Aztar. Didn't win much, but still enjoy the hum of the machines.

*rolls eyes*

Mary ... you HAD to mention the gambling, didn't ya? ;).

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, tho, ladies ... I'm not sure how long of a stop I'll be able to do at Metropolis. The night I leave for that trip (Tuesday, October 10), I'll be heading as far south in IL as I possibly can get. Then, Wednesday, I'll be making a beeline of sorts for Little Rock ... then onto Dallas TX by nightfall. So, not sure exactly how that'll work out ... BUT, I'm confident it WILL ... at least, we have to make it work ... would be nice to meet you Mary, see Sherry again, and of course, do a bit of sightseeing at Superman's home town ;).

LOL! Yeah, it was. BUT ... the most "eventful" trip I've ever had was one that my sister and I took back to PA for a family reunion in 1998. I had my 1997 Chevrolet "malibu" back then ... from the moment we drove through Chicago, we knew it was going to be "one of those" trips. Putting it in a nutshell, it started out with an orange dust landing all over my car as we drove through Chicago ... and ended TOO many hours later at about 3 in the morning ... as we sat on the PA Turnpike in "parking lot" style for about 2 hours ... only to find out that we were stopped for an "overhead erection". Yes, that is what the sign said. Turns out, workers were erecting a bridge over the Turnpike...... Our cousin was frantic by the time we got to her house ... meanwhile, Mom and Dad were fast asleep...LOL!

I did think about calling you when we neared Evansville Friday morning, but I knew we were on a tight schedule to get to Goodletsville TN at a "half decent" hour ... so, I didn't think it'd be fair to stop for 5 minutes and then take off.....

Cort,
If you're headed for extreme southern Illinois, Metropolis is about as far south as you can get. It's right on the Ohio River, and the Ohio River is the Illinois southern boundary.
Don't know about Sherry driving that far on a school night . . .
Good thing we've got three and a half months to figure it out! ;) ;)
