I'm preparing for this year's road trips, despite some new health issues ("mass" on liver, left arm/elbow pain, jaw pain, reoccurrence of irregular/too fast heart beat) and looking for a new job (etc).... Ironically, I haven't been to a cruise night in this area (Elgin, etc., IL) yet ... nor am I very organized at getting plans together for 2006 ... including a list of IL-IN-WI-IA-MI car shows/events, etc.....

Hmmm...would also love to organize a gathering to see the movie "Cars" ... I've seen it, but would love to see it again, considering it features a '76/'77 MC as one of the announcers, has a great commentary on RT 66's "demise" after interstates (particularly I-40) were built, and features some great scenery!

Anyway, my 2006 road trips are not as long as either of my major road trips the last 2 years (October 2004, west via MO-KS-CO-WY-UT-NM-OK-TX-AR; August 2005, east via TN-AL-GA-SC-NC-VA-PA-NJ-MD-WV-OH-MI-IN) ... but, they're road trips (thankfully) nonetheless.... And, I may be able to add more in the future...we'll see. Heh...sure wish I had time to include a trip along Rt 66, which I really want to drive after watching the movie "Cars".

Well, you KNOW we are looking forward..........

Just wanted to clarify...........heehee!

Have fun and drive safe! Hugs. J.

Hey Cort, DE sounds interesting.. i'm about 40 miles out...

Chris

Cort,
If you plan to spend the night in Little Rock on your way to Dallas, then you must plan on traveling right past Cape Girardeau on your way through the Missouri Bootheel.
Little Rock is about four + hours southwest of us, so we could probably meet for lunch and still allow you enough time to make Little Rock by evening. I've made the trip to Little Rock twice in the past six months, and it's not a bad drive.
I'm not sure where I'll be for your June 22-26 jaunt, but it you'll post routes after you've formulated them, it's possible I could catch you somewhere in "extreme" southern Illinois.
Keep us informed, please.:)

Wouldn't it be great to rent a theater somewhere in the middle of all of us and gather to see "Cars"?

Anyway, Cort, love to meet up for lunch (or coffee even) somewhere during the August trip. Maybe Sherry (and others) can meet us in the Fort Wayne area?

Thoughts??????????

I will be waiting for your call here in Michigan.
Sorry we couldn't get together last year, hope it will work out this year.
Rich

I am confused Cort. Thought you mentioned on another thread you were in Dallas at the moment? :)

Sounds like a fun filled summer and fall.!Drive safe....and yes, let's plan that brunch soon!

Keep us posted on the Dallas area mini's. We will be frequenting the area often!

Katie sounds like a typical little girl. Ours is now ten. I am sure they would be able to play for hours. My daughter loves reading to the little ones.

He he he ... I know there are others out there to meet up with ... ;).

OK ... let's see now....

Janet,

Katie already wants to show off her underpants? My goodness ... that should make for some very interesting entertainment at the restaurant ;). Depending on how long I'm in Dallas, I may need to "combine boards" ... and have a few others from some of my car-related boards eating dinner with us, if that's OK with everyone. Ya'll know me ... I want to see as many people as I can....

Chris,

Got your Email, too ... haven't had time to reply. Anyway, its looking like you'd need to come down to DE ... I don't think I'll be heading up through PA for that journey as I have family in the greater Baltimore/DC area....

Mary,

I won't be staying in LR ... I'll be stopping there most-likely for lunch to meet up with some people from the First Gen MC Club ... I missed 'em last time I went through LR ... and hope they are free this time through.

As for this weekend, I'll be heading to TN via either I-74 or I-64, skipping southern IL altogether. However ... on the way home Monday, I'll be jaunting back to Elgin via I-57, most-likely heading straight up north from either Jackson or Big Sandy TN ... hitting I-24 to I-57. I know Sherry had mentioned stopping where we met for lunch last year ... in the Mt Vernon IL area (iirc) ... would that be workable for you?

Gina,

I like the idea of renting that theater ... but, no idea where would be a good spot ;).

Actually, for that August trip, I hope to be heading to Goshen/Wabash/Warsaw IN the first night out (Thursday) ... and then stopping near Akron OH Friday night, before heading to the reunion early Saturday morning. On the way back, I'll be beelining it from PA to MI for Sunday dinner ... and then home Monday. Ssssooo....perhaps a quick stop somewhere along RT 30 during the day on Friday...?

Rich,

No worries about last year! hopefullly this year, tho. I know a bunch of us may be getting together for dinner ... you are welcome to join us :).

Gina,

You're confused, darlin' ;). I'm not in TX now ... kinda wish I was, but nope...not now. And, thank you ... I always try to drive safely ;).

Hmmm...about the brunch ... let's keep in touch ... see when Mary may be coming through, too :).

Hey Cort,

Mt. Vernon is a long way for me; I'm further south than that.:(
If Sherry can meet you in Mt. Vernon, go for it. ;)
Otherwise you might consider stopping in Vienna (exit on I-24) at Dolly's. That's about an hour away from me.
Let me know.:) :)

no problem Cort.. didn't know for sure which way you were coming thru.. i'll see what I can pull off to get to DE..

hmm...driving home via TN and IL. Would you be going through KY? Such as, Louisville?

Cort,
What about Mansfield on Friday? Maybe we could even get RCB and Ross to drive over????????;) :D ;)

The possibilities are endless ;).

Now, let's see if I can keep all of these straight.....he he he. MEANWHILE, I know there are others out there ... Marsha, Sherry, etc. etc. etc. ;).

Mary,

Vienna sounds good ... I'd be happy to stop there ... perhaps for a milk shake or something.... It's kind of early for lunch ... tho, maybe a late breakfast, depending on when I leave TN..... Who knows ... maybe Sherry would consider meeting us there ;). Sherry?

Chris,

Let me know....

Wise,

I'll be going through Louisville en route to TN on Thursday night/Friday. Still haven't decided when I'm leaving ... I may leave Elgin late Thursday night ... and go as far as I can ... but, who knows. The route is up in the air, too ... may take I-57 to I-74 and come down through Indy and Louisville ... or, may take I-57 down to I-64 ... to avoid Indy and only have to go through Louisville.... We'll see....yeah, I know ... clear as mud ... sorry :(.

Gina,

Mansfield might be doable for me. Not sure if Ross would want to drive that far ... especially since I'll be in his neck of the woods with my friends near Akron that night..... Where is RCB?

After a trip to Wellsville and having a very difficult time, I'm not sure I could make Mansfield. At this time, I'm wondering if my car is going to hold together until August. Winter really took a bite out of those rust spots you saw when you were here last time. Worse came to worse, I could use the wifes vehicle, but it's the Oxygen thing that worries me. I don't get along to well on those portable tanks. I still think they fill those with Gas station tire air!

Cort,
I don't know about a milkshake, but I could have pie and coffee. ;) ;)
I think Vienna is a long way for Sherry, but I might be wrong. Let's see if she chimes in here. :)

Cort, if you come through Louisville in the evening at 6:00 or after we could meet you for dinner or dessert or something. Doesn't look like that will work this time around. No problem; we'll meet up with you when it works. Have a great drive!!

Can you bring New York to Ohio? I want some of that Pizza!

Ross

Only you tell me how you put all those smart figures, photos and cartoons in that little box in the top of your messages... all I could do was a little bird:)

May be my last post in here until next week sometime. Even so, don't hesitate to post in here ... I'll get it when I get back ;).

Ross,

I figured about as much for you; I know how leery you are of venturing too far from home, so no worries! Will you still want to meet up when I get to the Akron area?

As for your car ... sure wish I could help you out there. I know you'd probably prefer something small and economical ... which isn't really want I know of being for sale right now. The cars I can think of that would be low cost to you ... are of the 1970s variety ... he he he.

Mary,

I'm going to send you my cell ph#. Since I'm not sure if I'll be able to check online tomorrow before I leave, if you don't see me post ... CALL me. OK? If I don't answer, leave a message with you ph# ... and I'll call you back. I have Sherry's # (and she has mine), so we can figure out plans sometime over the weekend.....

Wise,

I can guarantee the trip through Louisville will not be around 6pm. More likely late at night ... or early Friday morning. So, I'm sorry it won't work this time through :( ... it would've been nice to see you and your wife again.

maka,

That pizza sounds great! Sadly, I won't be in your area this year ... but, sometime, I'm sure :).
