Open Heart surgeries and Neurological problems

I had a friend that was on too many drugs (not heart drugs) she told her doctor that she wanted to have a baby. Her doctor helped her get off the drugs. She already had three children and didn't want anymore children.

    tissue vs. mechanical

My little friend had her mitral valve replace with a mechanical valve as a infant. Last year at the age of 12 she had it replaced with another mechanical valve because she out grew her other mechanical valve. At your age definitely go with a mechanical. The bad part is as you age and might need...

    Blood shearing

I was anemic and for four and half years I took iron supplements. Luckily one of my doctors tested me to see how iron I had in my body. I had triple the amount that is needed. If it gets to high you can have organ failure. After I had my aortic valve replaced with a tissue valve I am no longer...

I am lucky that my mom is 89 and still alive. Over the years she has had orthopedic surgeon tell her that she needed surgery on both ankles and knees. Rheumatoid Arthritis doctor I think we need to try using braces at the age of 80 I don't think surgery is a good idea. A hospital cardiologist...

Thank you for the up date. All I remember back when I was in my forties I found comfort in knowing that Arnold had surgery and was back doing movies and some of his own stunts again.

    The Cost of Doing Business

I alway recommend a second opinion from a different doctor be it cardiologist or surgeon. I had my little heart angel who I know that had three open heart surgery's before the age of two. Nine years later she had to have her mechanical valve replaced because of her growing. This last surgery she...

After your surgery, what are some of the things that you found out that surprised you

    1) was that my aorta was nicked with the saw when my chest was open up. 2) how thirsty I was and you can't drink for x number of hours after. 3) how weak I was, by the time I took the paper off the straw and silverware and them remove the lid off the plate of food I had no energy to eat. 4) all...

    Chest pain and uncertainty

Maybe they were checking your ears for ear crystal vertigo. Getting dizzy is not good because you could fall. Have they changed up any of your drugs? My drugs for high blood pressure sometimes makes me light headed when I get up.

    Not doing surgery

I also miss I think it was grand bonnie who lived in Helen GA. I think she was the first one that responded to my first post. I remember someone posting how when he returned home on his motorcycle the painters had not cleaned up the job site. We don't have any rags. No problem he take his old...

    New here

My chest incision was glued with maybe dissolvable stitches in inner skin. I also had the tape strips along chest incision. When my drainage tubes were removed I think I had glue and tape strip. No stitches. Best of luck with your upcoming surgery. Just remember you will be feeling better by...

    New here

This month is my 11 year anniversary. After surgery you most likely will have a nurse stationed in the hall just outside your room. I did wake up with the the breathing tube, just remember to breathe with it. As soon as I woke up they put me under and remove my breathing tube. Two days before...

    Hello from the UK

11 years ago I had a tee done. I was given something to gargle with to numb my throat. I also was given some drug maybe by pill as a light anesthesia. I was awake and remember telling the doctor that did it that I had seen him once before. He checked my records and told me I was right. Like any...
