    a question for knitters

Oh thanks Nancy! I didn't even think about all the wires and monitors and how it might effect them. Maybe I'll just bring a book.

    a question for knitters

I was thinking of bringing an easy knitting project to the hospital to work on once I'm out of the ICU. Do any of you think that the act of knitting is too physically hard that soon after surgery? It isn't heavy lifting but does require a lot of repeatative motion with the hands and arms. Is...

seeing or keeping old valve? Attatched to my pig valve.

LOL ok now that I think about this it seems pretty nasty. I mean who wants to see that hanging on your wall or in a jar on the shelf. I guess I was just wondering if my "attachment" to the valve and it's little donor is odd.

seeing or keeping old valve? Attatched to my pig valve.

Ok, this is probably going to come across as a really weird and maybe disgusting question but here it goes. Have any of you asked about seeing and/or keeping your old valve after it is replaced? I'm 36 and have a pig valve that will be replaced on Monday. I've had this valve since I was 12 years...

    bruising after cath... normal?

I had a cath 2 weeks ago. They tried to do an angioplasty and the balloon broke so they had to go in both legs (groin) and my neck! Needless to say it was not the greatest experience. The 2 hour procedure turned into 5 hours. Anyway, This was on the 4th of August and it's now the 18th and...

What is the "Pillow" business about?

I was going to bring a portable DVD player to watch some fun movies to cheer me up but It suddenly seems like a bad idea. The laughing would make me feel worse.

    Cleveland Clinic...where to stay?

I know, I'm a pest today ha ha. I was just wondering if anyone who has had surgery at Cleveland Clinic could reccomend a place for my husband and possibly one of my parents to stay while I'm having surgery? He is thinking of the guest house next door but it's a little $$$. Anyone have...

    Flu shot before surgery?

LOL no kidding. I tend to get sick fairly easily as does my husband. I've had years where I had a nasty cough/cold most of the winter. He brings one thing home that husband catches, then me, then back to husband...good times...sigh.

    Flu shot before surgery?

Bina, that's exactly what I'm worried about. I have a 7 year old who will be bringing who knows what home from school.

What is the "Pillow" business about?

sounds like one of those memory foam pillows would be ideal.

What is the "Pillow" business about?

I was wondering about what the pillow was for too. Good to know. So I'm right to guess that it should be a "firm" pillow and not a nice fluffy one?

    Flu shot before surgery?

I'm having surgery in early Oct and was wondering if you guys think it's a good idea to try to get a flu shot beforehand or right after I get home? I've never had one before but I think if there is ever a bad time to get the flu this winter would be it for me.

1st post! question for the ladies... kind of embarrasing.

Thanks guys. I think I'm just a bit nervous because the last time I had this surgery I was 12 (I'm 36 now) and when I was in ICU my very first period started. It was scary for me and kinda surprising to the nurses. I was at a children's hospital so they weren't used to that sort of thing...

1st post! question for the ladies... kind of embarrasing.

Hi! First of all I'm really happy to have found this site. I just joined yesterday so this is my first post. My question is kind of a personal one but I'm worried it may be important. I'm scheduled for surgery Oct 5th. My period is pretty irregular and I'm concerned it may come at that...
