    Insanity Workout

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the kind words. I am tough on myself and that is the first mistake I admit. I have a hard time looking at what I've accomplished and look at what I have failed at...type a personality...always been that way. My trainer is amazed because I can do things he never...

    Insanity Workout

Hello to all my old friends, It's been a while since I've been on the site, but I think of all of you often. I had my bi-cuspid aortic valve replaced in March 2009. I've been doing well. I have really struggled with weight for many years. After surgery I went from 220 lbs. to 180 lbs. This is...

Lifting Weights after Valve Replacement/Bentall Procedure

I'm about to pull my hair out

I can not get my INR in check....it is either too low or too high. This past week it was 5.2 so I am off Friday, Sat and Sunday. I then begin a 2,4,2 series and re-check in one week from Monday. Does this ever become normal? I do nothing differently each week. I had a couple of margaritas and...

    Alli

That's weird....it doesn't affect your nervous system. It isn't like the meds that mess with your heart and make you jittery, etc. I will talk with the doc.

    Coreg information

Coreg has been great for me. My bp is finally stabilizing and side effects of Coreg are better. It might make you a little tired, but exercising and cardiac rehab has helped me alot.

    Alli

Hello all, I was taking Alli for weight loss before heart surgery and want to begin it again. I like it because it does not affect the nervus system....it is not one that is bad for the heart. Alli just blocks fat absorbtion. Has anyone been on Alli since heart surgery and if so, is it okay to...

    Coumadin and Alcohol

Well I admit it wasn't as funny or entertaining as the sex thread, but I feel better about having a couple of drinks. I am just so excited to get away from this house, this husband, these kids and grandkids for the weekend that will be enough. We are going to have a good weekend in Galveston...

    Coumadin and Alcohol

I have a question....if you are on coumadin does that mean you can no longer have alcohol. When I say alcohol, I mean a glass or two of wine with girlfriends, an occassional margarita when having mexican food. I am fixing to have a weekend away with ole' highschool girlfriends, and it would be...

    Great Valve and Beautiful Heart

Hello all, Well I kind of messed up my INR...my cardiologist allowed me to have someone else read it but he wanted to be the one who dosed me. I was going to my neuro's office and letting them do it all. I have to go to cardiologist only until it is under control.....off all coumadin until...

Hello all, Well I went in for my first echo post op (3 months June 10) and my cardiologist says I have a great valve doing what it needs to be doing and a beautiful heart. I was so scared because I dreamed last night that my 19 year old daughter drove me to the cardiologist on her bicycle and...

Breathing problems post surgery - some advice needed

I had problems with my breathing after surgery. I had to stay on the ventilator longer than normal...tried to take it off and had to go right back on. I had problems with fluid but they could not figure out what was wrong because all my numbers were good and I did not have a PE. They finally...

    Hair loss after OHS

Hello all, I went to get my hair cut today and my hairdresser noticed I have a small spot on the back of my head where it's gone bald. She had a long name for it but said it's common and stress can cause it. She said she sees it alot in college students, esp. during final exam time. Did any of...

    Rehab and driving

I've been going to rehab 3 weeks and it has made me feel fabulous; however, the drive is horrendous. The pkg. is 9 per day and 3 times a week that adds up. I see my cardiologist this week and I'm going to see if I can transfer to a hospital facility over by my house so I can continue...
