    Another Baby

Thank you all for your thoughts. It put my mind to ease to just discuss it with someone with an outside view in. My parents, Ray and our daughters are all just giddy at the idea of a baby. I just wanted to keep an eye on reality and make the best decision for the family and a prospective new...

    Another Baby

That is great advice. I just want to be a responsible parent. We have not had our daughters tested to date. So maybe that is being irresponsible. I have discussed it with their pediatrician and she doesn't think it necessary until they are older. Neither have a detectable heart murmur (I...

    Another Baby

Hello Everyone! This will come as a shock  but I can't seem to find a straight answer on this so I thought I would come to the experts. Ray and I have two little girls that are 10 and 8. We had our daughters very young and we are at a place where we would like to add another little...

    Petechiae

Hello all. Hope you all had a great Christmas and good start to the New Year's. Got a question for all you experts. Ray is currently 8 months post-op from his surgery. Everything has been fantastic. Not one single problem. He developed petechiae on his hands a few weeks ago and it is...

    1/2 Marathon 31 August

Thanks for the offer, Debbie, but I'm not a runner :o Ray does run quite a bit now but he never gets on the internet, at least not to blog. Good Luck with the throwdown. That is an awesome idea to keep on track and focused.

    1/2 Marathon 31 August

I guess I can only upload one at a time. Here is Ray. Next one will be of me. the pics I took with the disposable camera didn't come out. I carried the camera in my sports bra during the run and it got soaked with sweat (eww) and ruined the film...who knew

    Left Arm Numbness

Good Morning, Everyone, Ray is about a week short of 5 months post-op. A few days ago Ray experienced numbness and pain in his left arm. He couldn't squeeze his hand. It only lasted about 3 minutes and then went away. Do you all think this is nerve related from the surgery or the begining...

    1/2 Marathon 31 August

Good Morning. Thank you all for your kind words. He is doing fantastic. =) No, he didn't wear a heart monitor. I wear mine religiously and offered to let him use it and he said no. Our next race is a mini triathlon. 12 October. We are both very excited about it. I'll have the pics...

    1/2 Marathon 31 August

We will definitely consider it, we have friends in Jersey City we could visit, too. Neither of us have any desire to do anymore than a half, so the relay would be great. We are doing a mini triathlon in October. Ray was very happy that his cardio is so great. Before his surgery he would...

    1/2 Marathon 31 August

Sorry to start a new thread. I don't see my original post. Ray and I ran the VA Beach Rock n Roll Half Marathon on Sunday. He is 4 months post op as of yesterday. He did fantastic. He completed it in 3:09:41. Everything is going well. No complaints. Hope you are all doing fantastic...

    Ok, I need your help!

Hi Greg. Just wanted to post my two cents. Ray struggled with the same issues about muscle atrophy. Like I told him, your muscles aren't brand new, they may shrink but they certainly won't disappear and as soon as you are able to lift some weight again they will pop back out in a few short...

    The Ross' Journey

Tried to change my avitar but it wouldn't work. A more up to date pic. I think I told you all about the dreaded beard he has grown. :p

    The Ross' Journey

Good Morning, All. Just a quick update. Ray won't actually be 12 weeks post-op until this Thursday (7/24) but we had our 12 week post op echo yesterday and everything is good to go. No problems. I'll try and take another picture of his incision to post, but you almost can't see it in places...

    The Ross' Journey

OK, well we found out today that Ray will be in the low dose coumadin side of the study. So he has decided not to do the study. Reasoning for this is driving back and forth to Richmond. We are just going to get a machine from the VA and continue to do our own monitoring and dosage adjustments...

    First Post

Hi Rob and Nancy. Welcome. My husband Ray has the On-X and we will hear 1 August which part of the study he will be on. I have been blogging our journey in the significant other's section of the forum. The first day on the Plavix load it severely upset Ray's stomach but then he was fine...

    The Ross' Journey

Thanks for all your great advice Karlynn. The only reason we are so far ahead now is because of all of you who went before us and shared your experiences, your lessons learned :D Just wanted to post that Ray is still doing fantastic. He has some big date planned for us on Saturday. It's a...

    My husband's surgery

Hi Brookwood, My hubby had his AVR replaced on 1 May. I have logged our experiences in the significant other's section. Everyday it gets a little easier to breathe ;-) Take care of yourself too and remember to eat. You can't help him if you pass out. Good luck and I hope you both have an...

    The Ross' Journey

I expect it to "swing" a bit as he doesn't eat the same thing everyday and his activity level varies day to day. As long as he isn't too high, I'm happy =) I'm just happy he is finally able to stop taking the lovenox shots, as I am sure you can relate. :D
