How many BAVs have migraine aura?

Very interesting. I started having the occular migraines as a young teen with usually no headache. After AVR, they increased to sometimes 4-5 times a day lasting at least 20 minutes each where beforehand I could sometimes go more than a month without it happening. I was put on Topamax twice a...

    Breath In......MRI/contrast

I just had and MRI and MRA this past week. It was very long and I did almost panic at first, but began saying "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" to the beat of the noises that were coming from the machine. All went well until it came to the contrast at the end. They had told...

    Pumphead - New Study

Well, I am not sure what to think of the studies, but I just know that I do not function at the same cognitive level anymore. It improved slowly for a long time after surgery, but now at 4 years I guess I am just as good as I am going to get. In our house when people talk about things, they...

I figured you guys are the only ones who know how significant a "heart anniversary" feels. For you guys who have just made it over the mountain, you will feel...

    Vision problems post op?

I had to start taking topamax (migraine med) twice a day to control the "shooting lights". I had them before surgery occasionally, but after surgery began having them several times a day. I still have them every couple of weeks even with the meds, but it doesnt last as long.

    I'm feeling scared

Hi Laura, I just wanted to welcome you and assure you that any and all feelings are normal! For me, knowledge was a "control" that I needed in a very out-of-my-control time and I learned more from this site than I did from my doctors about what what to expect from surgery. So, ask questions...

    Home Testing?

My coumadin "clinic" has basically consisted of one very sweet young man who told me he is moving on to better things at my appointment this week. He has been wonderful and has really known what he was doing over the past three years. The person who will be taking over my appointments is a...

    Ok, I need your help!

I am less than 2 weeks away from my 3rd anniversary of my surgery and I want you to know that I am sitting here emotional after reading your post. Some people seem to recover quickly and easily, others have a more difficult time. I was 33 years old and it was so HARD physically and emotionally...

Can I still Sneak Up On Folks?

One of the favorite games of the kids at church during lock-ins is called Underground Church. It is similar to hide and seek except it is done in pitch dark with one person hiding and everyone seeking. If you find the person who is hiding, you "join the church" and hide with them until there is...

    memory trouble

I think the memory loss and just not feeling quite "sharp" anymore was one of the most frustrating parts for me. In the beginning it was very severe and if it weren't for the information that I got from this board, I don't know what I would have done. I have great doctors, but neither one of...
